Yuta, Maki, and Gojo-sensei were now in front of an old building. The empty school seemed to emit a dark aura.
"Here? It's just a normal elementary school." Yuta asked, his confusion grew as he viewed the building in front of him.
"Just an ordinary school...where children go missing inside." Gojo replied, turned away from the school.
"Go missing?!" Yuta questioned, in a surprised tone. Beads of sweat started to form above his brow.
"A school is just a school. So, most likely, the disappearances are due to a naturally formed curse." Gojo explained.
"So you're saying that the kids were abducted by a curse?" Yuta asked, he raised a brow as he looked at his teacher.
Gojo held up two fingers before replying. "Yep, two of them."
"Places that a lot of people have memories of...tend to be hotbeds of curses. Schools, hospitals...they're frequently thought of, every time that happens, they become receptacles for negative emotions. As those emotions pile up, curses form, like what happened here," Maki added, she adjusted her glasses.
"Exercise the curse and save the children. If they are dead, recover the bodies." The teacher said, he raised two fingers and brought them close to his face.
" Return to darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure."
A black liquid came down from the sky and started to surround the school.
Yuta looked up at the sky. "It's starting to get dark!"
"This is the veil, it makes you invisible from the outside...and causes curses to appear." Gojo said, he put his hand on Yuta's shoulder. "Then it should be easy to solve the problem from the inside. Alright then, I sincerely hope...you don't die." Gojo said, he had a smirk on his face as he walked through the dark screen.
"Die? Sensei?!" Yuta cried, but Gojo was already gone.
"Transfer student. Don't look away!" Maki said, she raised her weapon as she prepared to fight.
Yuta turned around to see three oddly shaped figures walking towards them.
"COME...IN. CO...ME...IN?" One of the curses ripped open its "mouth".
It was an oval-shaped curse with a single eyeball on its head. The curse's mouth was sideways and had a long slimy tongue.
"They're coming this way!!! W-what should we do?!" Yuta yelled, he panicked as he saw the curses coming closer. Yuta's heart was beating so fast he thought it would jump out of his chest.
"Don't yell," Maki said sternly. "Remember this. When it comes to curses. The weak ones always come in swarms." Maki gripped her weapon tightly.
She twirled her spear and sliced through the curses effortlessly.
"Well...it's the same with humans too, isn't it?" Maki mumbled.
"Incredible..with just one strike," Yuta said, he was amazed by Maki's skills.
'I wonder if I can do that someday.'
"Hey, hurry up and let's go." Maki said as she started to walk away.
"Huh? Go where?" Yuta questioned, he thought the job was already done.
"Inside, obviously." Maki replied, she rolled her eyes as she opened the door.
"Zen'in-san, aren't you scared?" Yuta asked, he was feeling quite nervous. He felt like there were millions of eyes on him.
"Don't call me by my last name!" Maki yelled.
"S-sorry. But it looks like there are a ton of curses here, they might jump out at any second. Well, some already have, I guess." Yuta squeaked, he looked around nervously.
As Maki and Yuta walked further down the hallway, several small and creepy curses were peaking from every corner. Maki was beginning to wonder why they hadn't attacked yet.
'Even though the Curtain is down, the number of curses is low...no, they're here. They just aren't attacking. Is it because he's here?' She thought as she turned to the boy.
Meanwhile, Yuta was hugging himself as he scanned the room. He felt like his skin was crawling.
'Ah! Did that just move?! Yeah, something definitely just moved. And why is it so cold in here-'
Yuta was thinking to himself before Maki interrupted him.
Maki turned to look back at Yuta "Hey."
"Yes!?" Yuta quickly replied, his voice cracking.
"What rank are you?" Maki asked.
"Huh?" Yuta stammered, he didn't really know what she meant by that.
"Jujutsu Sorcerers are ranked from fourth grade to first grade." Maki explained.
"But uh, I just got into Jujutsu High. I'm not sure I have one." Yuta stated.
"Forget it. Just show me your student ID. You got one from that stupid blindfold freak...right?" Maki questioned, referring to Gojo.
"...Stupid blindfold freak?" Yuta whispered, reaching his hand into his pocket. Yuta gave Maki the card in his pocket. "Here you go."
Maki snatched it out of his hand while rolling her eyes. "Anyway, a student with no prior experience, probably grade four...." Maki mumbled.
'Special grade?! Special grade...That's even higher than grade one. You only hear people joke about this!' Maki thought as she observed the card.
Maki was so deep in thought that she didn't even hear Yuta calling her.
"Zen'in san!!" Yuta yelled trying to get her attention.
Maki finally snapped out of her thoughts, looking at Yuta.
"Behind you...." Yuta whispered, pointing next to her.
Maki turned around to see a giant curse with big eyes. Then in one swing the curse destroyed the building, making Maki and Yuta fall from the sky.
"That thing is freakishly huge!" Maki yelled.
The curse opened its mouth showing hundreds of sharp teeth.
"What?!" Maki shouted while grabbing her weapon.
Before Maki could use it, one of the cursed teeth scratched her leg. The curse swallowed Maki and Yuta in one gulp.
"TH-THA-THA-THAAANKS FOR THE MEEEEAL!.." The curse screeched loudly.
