Who would have thought that everything could change in just this one week?
But now here you are, under a blanket on a rainy day, with Ahri snuggling up to your chest, while you stroke over her back. All that led up to this, all these little moments, they swirl around in your head, as you lay there, holding Ahri in your arms.
Just the warmth of her body, the scent of her shampoo, the little movements as she snuggles closer to you, all of this, something that should last for eternity.
When did you feel like this the last time?
Like you could lay here, forever and you would not miss a thing outside this door, that makes this place seem so far away from reality, a realm of blankets and pillows just for the two of you.
A sacred room perhaps, something that no one can take away from you, a room that will never fade from both your memories."Y/N?", she asks , looking up to you, "I do not want to disturb the moment and so... but...",
"It is ok, what is it? Just tell me", a smile on your lips as you can see a slight blush on her face,
"Could we maybe prepare dinner? I am hungry", she asks a bit hesitant,
"Ready when you are", you answer as you give her a gentle peck on the forehead.
As you both break up the cuddle, it feels slightly colder in the room, your body just waiting for another embrace.
Maybe it really is just the change in temperature, but this simple thing, a kiss and a hug, it felt so addicting.
It feels like it even suppressed your hunger, as just know the creeping feeling of an empty stomach, comes to your mind. The ground floor is a bit warmer than the basement, yet it does not feel that cold anymore, at least warm enough to cook and eat.
"Maybe, wanna cook together?", you ask her, as you two reach the kitchen door,
"Want to steal my recipe?" she gives you a smug look,
"What stops me from just taking it", you suddenly pick her up, a sudden yelp escaping her mouth:
"This is not funny", she pouts, while struggling a bit in your embrace,
"If you want we can just cook a recipe of my grandma",
"But you let me down first?",
"I can hardly cook with you in my arms", you say as you let her down cautiously. After some hesitation, you get out your grandmas cookbook, Ahri scrolls through every page with fascination, seemingly a glistening in her eyes, until she stops at a page.
And even without asking you, it is decided what you two will cook today. It surprises you a bit how fast suddenly all these tasks go, it feels like only some minutes went by as you stand at the stove, stirring the risotto.
You should not have let her choose, you think, as the eternity of stirring seemingly will not end, stirr until the wished consistency is reached and what is the wished consistency?
Something that will never come as it still looks more like rice pudding than risotto.
"Do not stop cooking, chef?", Ahri hugs you from behind, around your lower body, resting her head on your left shoulder,
"Doing my best out here",
"Really? Maybe you need a bit motivation?".
It feels only like a hint at first, but you feel the second kiss on your neck, a shivering feeling running through your back, letting your hair stand up.
She lets out a small chuckle, yet it sounds so sweet, sweet enough to cover over this lingering pain forming in your right arm and you thought it was well trained. The Italians must be patient people, it nearly took another quarter of an hour until it finally got this "wished consistency", but as you see the smile on Ahris face, all this seems worth it.
It feels a little bit like a first date, the light of the candles replacing the electric one, you both facing each other, those shy smiles each of you get when your eyes meet, the sound of bumping hearts.
So simple, yet it feels so powerful, moments no other feeling will ever reach.
The silence does not feel weird, it feels like harmony. Two souls, one thought, no words.
"It is a bit cold down here..." Ahri picks up the talk,
"You mean, it would be warmer under the roof?",
"It would be worth a try, wouldn't it?", she gives you a shy smile, her ears a bit bent towards her, the tail moving just a bit.
"Yeah, maybe it really is a bit warmer upstairs", it is like someone could hear the blush out of your voice,
"Let me just get some clothing, okay?", she gives you a peck before vanishing into her room.
You did not have to wait long, as just a minute after you yourself got under the blanket, the door opens, just a bit, she looks through, a bit shy, before coming in.
She wears the same oversized shirt as always, you do not really know if she wears something beneath it, or if it is like the first rainy night.
For the moment, you do not really care as you lift up the blanket.
The first minutes feel a bit awkward, but as she snuggles up to you, her back to your front, it feels like you two did this a thousand times already, your right arm over her hip on her belly, just being the big spoon for your little spoon.
A night that does not feel cold, a night where you will not wake up alone yet again, something that feels so special, yet so needed.
"Good night, Ahri", you whisper into her ear.The morning feels way warmer than yesterday, some rays of sunshine already beam through the curtains.
Ahri seems still fast asleep, a low purring coming from her, she somehow looks even more beautiful with her hair a bit messy.
Giving her a kiss on her neck, you enjoy her vicinity before leaving the bed, maybe surprise her with a somewhat prepared breakfast, something else than cereals.
Scrambled eggs should be possible without making too much noise.
And while the laid table just waits for the two of you, you again stand there, stirring the mix of eggs, cooking cream and spices, the onions cooking in the pan besides you.
"At it again?", a sudden kiss on your neck, a fang brushing lightly over your skin,
"Well, a lot to do today",
"Really?", she almost sounds sad,
"Just finishing the pool before it gets too hot again",
"You think it will be hot again soon? I mean it will not be that hot, that soon, or?", she asks. Her answer is delivered by the sun itself, as it feels like it never rained, just as you step out onto the terrace. Ahri wears a dark blue skirt with a black crop top with a light white shirt over it.
"Your weather is weird here, what even is this?", she asks, looking rather confused,
"Even I cannot tell you and I lived here for almost my entire life", it really is the truth, nobody is going to believe you, but sometimes it feels like something in the mountains randomly decides weather and temperature.
At least the water the storm left in the empty pool is pleasantly cooling, even if it is only up to your ankles, it helps against the merciless sun.
"I almost wish for another rainy day", Ahri moans,
"Just those last squares and we are done",
"Which one?", she asks, hope swinging in her voice, but as you point into a general direction, even that seems to die down rather quickly."Ahri?", you turn away from the tiled wall, facing her back
"Yeah?", she also turns around.
"I do not want to look nosy and things, but those grey vials ...?", you choose your words careful.
A defeated sigh, more like you have to tell someone your biggest secret.
"I do not want to push it, okay....",
She interrupts you: "No, it is fine, it is more like something to help me to fit into a ... normal... life",
"Like some medication against you turning into a normal fox or...?", you try to hide away your worries, but as she begins to laugh, it all falls of you.
"Was I that off?", you say, almost embarrassed,
"No, not that much of the truth, a little more complex than me just becoming suddenly a fox, but close to that", she still laughs, some tears in her eyes.
"Come on, how should I know?", you feel a bit insulted, crossing your arms,
"Yeah, sorry", she still wheezes a bit, "It is something common between Vastayas, but something only a small percentage of people know about, I forget this sometimes, sorry."
She really seems to mean it, even rubbing her arm a bit,
"Do not worry, it is not like you will suddenly kiss a fox or wake up and I turned into dust, but it is a somewhat...", she gestures around a bit "...it is a very personal thing, could I tell you tomorrow, maybe?".
You smirk,
"If you give me an English-Fox dictionary, it is okay",
"I will not turn into a normal fox", she snickers, kicking the water, splashing you,
"I will judge that tomorrow", you give her a soft smile, which she returns.
