It's silent. Completely silent.
My thudding heart and Teddy's soft snores are the only guide as I drive over to Kate's. My mind is completely void of thoughts, my phone on silent as I fear the fact that there will be no messages from Christian. My heart hurts, my mind needs rest and at this point, I'm wondering if we will ever go back to who we were before. Before Jack's release from prison.
Looking through my mirror, I look at my sleeping boy.
Will he even remember this phase? Will Christian and I somehow mess up our sweet miracle?Oh, sweet Jesus! Don't think that way Ana.
Sighing, I focus on the road and place a hand to my slightly rounding belly and instantly I'm more at ease.
There's a baby growing inside me again, a baby Christian and I created from love. A baby to give love to.Sighing, I turn into Kate's driveway and park. Teddy still hasn't budge. Heading to the back of the car I unbuckle him from his carseat when I hear Kate's front door close.
"Ana!" She screams, jumping like a school girl. "I'm so happy you're here."
Laughing now, I look over at her. Her blond hair wrapped in a messy bun some tendrils whisping along her neck and face. She looks as effortlessly beautiful as only Kate can be in a very worn sweater and leggings.
"Come over here and help me with this sleeping rock."
She laughs too and hurries over to help me with Teddy.
"Oh, Ana. He's gotten so big."
"Yes. He's my big boy. I wish we had the time to see each other more often."
"I know," she says holding Teddy "but you're here now and that's all that matters."
Grabbing the rest of our things I follow behind her as she brings Teddy into the house.
As I step inside I can already see the mixtures of Kate and Elliot inside from the very bright and artsy of Kate to the calm and woodsy of Elliot. But oh how they mix.
By the fireplace there's Elliot rocking baby Emma.
"Hey Ana." He says grinning that lopsided grin of his while walked over to great me.
"Hey yourself. How's my sweet girl?"
Elliot gently puts her in my arms, and I notice that she's asleep. Her hair as blond as her mother's curls around her face, her fist tucked beneath her cheek.
"She's so beautiful."
"I know right." Elliot smiles, his entire heart in his eyes.
At that same time Kate comes down the stairs and I've noticed that she's put Teddy down.
"Elliot, could you put her down for the night. Ana and I are having girls night tonight."
"I figured," he says kissing her lightly on the lips before turning to me. "Goodnight, Ana."
Smiling I whisper a faint, "Goodnight."
As he climbs up the stairs Kate heads to the kitchen and comes out with a bottle of wine.
"Aren't you breastfeeding?"
"Yeah. I am. This is for you." Raising one of my brows I look at her and the bottle in her hand.
"As much as I am flattered that you wanted to see me Ana, there's more so spill."
Sighing, I take my jacket off and sit in the couch infront the fireplace.
"Well first off, I'm pregnant. So none of us will be having any wine tonight."
There are very few things that can absolutely shut Katherine Kavannah Grey up and admitting I'm pregnant seemed to have done the trick.
