Chapter 12

Silently I pack a few pieces of clothes from my closet. There's no way in hell I'm staying here! He's done this before, he'll probably continue doing it if I don't do something. I just need him to tell me what's going on. That's it for christ's sake! I thought he'd gotten past that whole thing and has been open to telling me exactly what's happening. Clearly not.

Totally frustrated with myself and the situation I stop packing for a bit and sit at the foot of our bed and stare at the portrait of the three of us; me, Christian, and Teddy. How'd we really get to this? Were we really always like this and I just did not know? Rubbing my still flat belly I sighed and resumed packing. I figure if there's space between us for a while we will know how to process the situation better.

Hearing my cellphone ring I stopped packing again. It's Kate.

"Ana, what's wrong?" She sounds alarmed and a bit puzzled. "You left me a million voicemails."

"Um, Teddy and I are coming to spend a few days." Knowing she'd question my tone I tried my best to smile. " Teddy's been asking to see you and the baby," I lied. "Besides Christian's going away for a few days."

She stays silent for a while as if she's afraid to believe me. I hear her exhale loudly and I know she wants to ask more than she lets on. " Of course. It'd be like old times."

"Great. I'll see you later. Do you still like that place on 3rd?"

" Yes! We can go tonight once Elliot's home."

Smiling now I hurriedly finished packing my stuff. Knowing Teddy he's probably gonna wonder why we're visiting without Christian, Mrs. Jones will probably wonder as well. I really have to think about what to say before I leave. Christian already left for the office, so at least I won't have him to deal with; he'll probably just leave from there and head to the airport. Taylor will be going with him, so two birds down. Don't think I could manage two disapproving lectures right now, so thank God!

You're not a good liar!

Shit! I'll just stick with what I told Kate, so if anybody asks Teddy's been asking to go visit. Alright, good. Feeling somewhat accomplished with my ruse I haul our luggage to the top of the step and head to Teddy's room down the hall.

Knocking, I step into his room to find him asleep on the floor his toys scattered around him. His coppered hair is disheveled and covers his eyes. Needs a haircut. His eyebrows fan against his rosy cheeks as he breathes slowly. Overcome with emotion I sit beside him on the floor pushing his too-long hair back from his face.

" Oh, Teddy." Kissing his cheek, I lay with him curled on the floor toys surrounding us our hearts and mind at peace.

Someone must have turned off the heat was my first thought as I stretched from my curled position on the floor. I must have fallen asleep too, I thought, wrapping my cardigan around my body. Wiping the sleepy haze from my eyes, I noticed that the toys are no longer around us and Teddy is wrapped in his blanket. Oh! Maybe Mrs. Jones came in and cleaned up. Bless her!

Rising now, I noticed that a small bag is also packed. Puzzled I look around his room and notice that all his favorite stuffed animals and toys were gone and probably in his bag.

"How'd Mrs. Jones know to pack a bag?" I mutter to myself.

"She didn't, I did." Surprised by the voice I turn around to find Christian leaning against the door. He looks yummy in his three piece gray suit. The top buttons of his shirt are undone and his hair, just like Teddy's, hang loosely over his forehead.

Puzzled now, I look up at him waiting for him to answer my silent question.

How did he know?

"Elliot called. He wanted to know where I was flying out too. As nosy as he is." He snorts walking towards Teddy who's still curled up on the floor. Picking him up he placed him on his bed. "He might've mentioned you staying over for a few days."

Watching him keenly now, I notice him kiss Teddy's forehead softly before pointing his steel gray eyes at me.

" Were you just going to leave?" He asks hands fisted in his pockets.

Knowing I had somehow fucked up once more I simply stare back at him speechless.

You know how he is and yet you test him to the very limit of sanity !

Sighing, I look down at my feet. "I was planning on writing a note or leave a message with Mrs. Jones."

I see him roll his eyes and my inner walls instinctively tighten. Not the time!

"Was I supposed to get back this evening and find you and Teddy gone?"

" I would have made our whereabouts known."

"How very thoughtful, Anastasia." He scoffs stepping toward me. "Have you also forgotten that you're carrying my child?"

"Our child!" I whisper shout not wanting to wake Teddy. " And no I have not forgotten. You're behaving as  if we were heading off to war."

"I'm going to a friend. One, mind you, I haven't spend much time with since meeting you. Teddy has been asking to see her and the baby. And with our little situation I am more than happy to oblige him."

Shock brighten the steel gray of his eyes and I can tell I hurt him. He takes a step back from me and buttons his suit.

"If you insist then, Mrs. Grey," his tone rigid and foreign to my ears. "We do aim to please."

With that he walks off leaving me alone with the words I just said. What have you become? Feeling the tears forming a ball in my throat I quickly will them back. There's no time for tears now. I need everything packed and ready. I'll deal with Christian and my tears later.

Another fill in chapter. I apologize for my inconsistency. School pretty much has my time and I believe I have writer's block. I really want to make my own story yet not take away from the essence of the characters that E.L. James wrote. I really hope you like this chapter though.

all love !
