Chapter Twenty-Three---Manager

"Hey Vander, I'm going to see if I can get someone to come here for the vow."

"Mm. Alright, see you later."

"Yeah."

Kila didn't waste much time, and was soon in the Roan Kingdom's capital again. Since she needed a priest, she flew up to find the correct church. It didn't take long, and she was soon standing in front of the doors. The church was completely white and not a speck of dust was visible. As she walked in, she was greeted by a priest.

"May you be blessed with a peaceful rest."

"Yes, hello, I'd like to request a priest to visit a location."

"May I ask why you cannot take the vow here? "

"The person is a criminal. He's locked up right now."

"Ah... in that case, we will select a priest for you."

"Thank you."

They soon had someone ready, and Kila turned to them.

"Is it fine if I teleport us there?"

"That is fine."

She smiled and stepped slightly forward.

'Guess I don't need Vander then.'

As the priest looked at her, the teleportation spell took over. She had set the location to in front of Bernard's room, so they walked directly in. Once inside the priest gasped.

"The aura of death..."

"Yeah, he's a killer."

Bernard didn't pay much attention to them, resigned to his situation. At Kila's call however, he turned around.

"Bernard. Come here."

With a sigh, he walked over.

"The vow."

"Ah, right."

The priest hurriedly began setting it up. Once they were done, Kila set a soundproof barrier around them.

"The conditions are the same as before. Here."

She slid a sheet of paper to him, and he began reading off it. No killing innocent people, get rid of the dark mages, obey Vander and Kila, and continue running the tower. Thankfully, the vow took effect and she turned to pay the priest.

"Here."

"That's more than the vow is worth."

"I doubt you'll decline it though."

"Mmh."

As she'd expected, the priest took it. They then turned to Bernard.

"May your life continue until it's destined time."

"I'll send you back now."

They nodded and she teleported them back.

"Now I'll send you to the tower."

He nodded and was gone. Kila glanced outside with Clairvoyance to check the time, and decided to make lunch. When she got to the kitchen, Vander was still in the forest, so she started cooking.

'I miss fast food. And hamburgers. French fries.'

The French fries were doable and she soon had slightly spicy chicken, fries, and a salad. Kila was too lazy to waste much time finding everyone, so she sent a telepathic message.

[Food's ready.]

Not long after the message was sent, the other member of the household filed in.

"French fries? These are really good."
