I was glad I made friends with Gus, Luz and Willow because I never get crystal ball calls in the morning!

"So they said I couldn't remove my thumb, but look at that!" Luz exclaimed, removing her thumb. "Whoop!"

"You sliced it off! You sliced off your own thumb!" Gus panicked.

"Can you grow it back?" I asked.

"You make doing homework actually fun." Willow chuckled.

"And they say humans can't do magic." Luz scoffed.

"Luz..." King whined, climbing onto table. "Nyeh! You've been talking to them all morning. Don't forget about the Luz and King comedy hour!"

"Please, no. Not the comedy hour..." Eda's voice groaned.

"Comedy hour?" I asked.

"No! Don't ask about it!" Eda warned.

"This week I've been working with props!" King announced, ignoring Eda. He turned around to show a cardboard tube on his nose. "Oh dear, I've gotten a tube stuck on my nose! Will I ever eat again?" He slammed a piece of bread on his face. "Looks like I'm toast!" He and Luz burst out in a fit of giggles.

"It just goes on like this for an hour!" Eds exclaimed in annoyance.

"Heyo, dough boy, quit loafing around!" Luz said.

"Why don't you bake me?" King mocked before they laughed again. My, and I assume the other's crystal balls buzzed with an alarm and flashes red. The time, 8:00, flashes below my friends.

"School time! See you guys in class!" Luz exclaimed.

"Bye!" Willow called out.

"See you at school, Luz." I mumbled.

"But what about the thumb?!" Gus pondered as Luz ended the call.

"You heard your classmate, school time." Mom said sharply as soon as the call.

"I know, mom. I was just talking to my friends." I said, putting on my belt.

"Oh, the luxury." Mom sighed.

"You didn't have any friends?" I asked, putting on my mask and hat.

"No, everyone thought I was a freak with the curse. But, it only encouraged me to work harder and look at me now; family and in a coven." Mom sneered.

"I thought the emperor was the reason you and Xavier are in covens since as he put it 'people are worried they'll get the curse'." I shot back.

"Same difference!" Mom yelled with a red face. "Besides, keep that attitude up and this goes bye-bye." I looked to see what she meant and my heart stopped. She was holding the photo of me and Goldie.

"No!" I screamed, telekinetically grabbing the photo from her grasp.

"No?! What so important about an old photo of you as a kid?" Mom asked as she started to prepare breakfast.

"That's the only photo I have of me and Goldie!" I exclaimed.

"Oh, yeah, him." Mom deadpanned.

"Goldie was my best friend when I was little!" I yelled.

"He was your only friend." Mom shot back and I shrunk down, I knew I couldn't win. "Get ready for school, if you're late, you won't hear the end of it from me." I trudged up the stairs.

What's her deal with me? Is she so jealous that I have friends while no one wanted to be her friend that she wants to take her envy out on me.

"Hey, mom, there's a carnival in town! Can we go? Please, please, please!" Silas begged.
