Leafpaw was scared in this unfamiliar place. This forest was much darker then usual LeapClan territory. It was like NightClan's territory, but much more sunny.

Leafpaw was getting hungry and didn't know how farther it would be since Rosesplash didn't tell her. Leafpaw shrugged. Nothing here would be poisonous right?

Leafpaw sniffed the air and to her relief, there were scents of prey in the air. Leafpaw spotted a mouse near a bush and crouched down into a hunting crouch.

Leafpaw stalked forward slowly. Remembering that a mouse will feel her pawsteps if she doesn't step lightly.

As soon as Leafpaw was close to the mouse, she pounced into it and killed the mouse with a swift bite to its neck.

Thank you StarClan for this prey, Leafpaw thought, picking up the mouse.

Leafpaw buried it, so she could find moss and ferns to make a nest. Leafpaw found scraps of moss and ferns, but not many, so the nest she made wasn't too comfortable.

Leafpaw finally finished her nest and dug her prey. She ate the mouse quickly, and settled into her nest. She fell asleep shortly afterwards.

"Leafpaw?"

Leafpaw opened her eyes and looked up at the cat who awoken her. To her surprise, it was a tom she never seen before, but it's fur was bright, so she guessed it was a StarClan cat.

"Are you from StarClan?" Leafpaw asked, her voice quivering.

The tom's black fur started to bristle. "Can't you see that I have starry fur?" He challenged. "Never mind, Leafpaw isn't it?"

"I thought every cat in StarClan knew every cats name," Leafpaw replied. "Why are you here? Wait, what is Blazepoppy doing?"

"My name is Blackstep," the tom answered, completely ignoring her questions. "I'm your mother's father."

Leafpaw's eyes widened. "You're my grandfather," Leafpaw whispered. "How did you die?"

Blackstep waved his tail dismissively, so like Blazepoppy. "I died from old age," Blackstep growled. "I'm not here to talk about my daughter or anything. I need to tell you something."

Leafpaw stared at him. "But Rosesplash-" Leafpaw began.

"Forget going to the Moonpool," Blackstep hissed, interrupting her. "Dangers are coming to your Clan. They need you to go back."

"What dangers?" Leafpaw prompted.

"Dangers no cat has face before," Blackstep replied. "Go back, Leafpaw. They need you."

"They'll be fine!" Leafpaw exclaimed. "Why can't they survive without an apprentice?"

"That apprentice is special," Blackstep told her. "I have been watching you for a while, Leafpaw and I know you're ready to face this challenge."

"How about Maplepaw?" Leafpaw questioned.

"Maplepaw is a fine apprentice," Blackstep meowed sharply. "But he isn't like you, Leafpaw. Stop denying it, you're special."

"But I don't want to be special," Leafpaw murmured, looking away from him.

"Well face it," Blackstep hissed, frustrated. "I don't have a lot of time with you, but go back!"

Leafpaw lifted her head. "Tell me the trouble!" Leafpaw begged. "Then I'll decide."

"I can't," Blackstep growled, lashing his tail and starting to fade. "Just go back! LeapClan..." Blackstep voice became quieter and quieter as he faded.

Leafpaw jolted awake. She jumped to her paws. I have to go back! Leafpaw thought then started padding back to LeapClan territory.

-

Leafpaw made it back to camp. She was panting hard from racing through NightClan territory. To her surprise, Embershade was waiting for her.

"Where were you?" Embershade demanded. "Rosesplash said you sneaked away from her and why were you two in NightClan territory?"

"I didn't!" Leafpaw protested, but Embershade glared at her.

"Well then, where did you sneak off too?" Embershade asked, his voice stern as ever.

"I just went hunting," Leafpaw lied.

"In another Clan's territory?" Embershade looked shocked. "Don't you know the warrior code?"

Leafpaw winced as Embershade went on. "Tick duty for a couple moons and I'll have to review the warrior code with you." Embershade flicked his tail and then padded away.

Leafpaw looked around and spotted Rosesplash. Rosesplash looked ruffled as Leafpaw padded to her.

"That was quick, but what did StarClan tell you?" Rosesplash demanded. "Did you even make it to the Moonpool?"

"I did," Leafpaw lied. "And I spoke to Blackstep."

"What did he tell you?" Rosesplash prompted.

"Well he told me to come back here as fast as I can," Leafpaw told her. "Trouble is coming."

"How about Blazepoppy?" Rosesplash asked.

"He wouldn't tell me," Leafpaw replied with an angry flick of her tail. "Anyways, the 'trouble' could be mother."

"Don't call her mother anymore," Rosesplash growled. "Blazepoppy almost killed me and maybe killed Leafnose."

"She's my mother either way," Leafpaw argued then sighed. "StarClan please don't let Blazepoppy do anything bad."

Rosesplash shrugged. "Be careful of her," Rosesplash warned. "Keep your eyes opened of any signs of her doing anything bad. I'm still reluctant that it's actually her." Rosesplash added.

"Maybe it's Dustyfoot," Leafpaw suggested with a slight edge to her voice.

"Dustyfoot is Leafnose's mate," Rosesplash answered cautiously. "But there's a chance. I'll keep an eye on Dustyfoot and you keep an eye on Blazepoppy, alright?"

"Okay," Leafpaw agreed.

Before Leafpaw could leave, Rosesplash stopped her. "I don't want you to do anything dangerous," Rosesplash meowed. "You're taking a big risk helping me, so I don't want you to get hurt. If there is any danger involved, I want you to get me and I'll deal with it."

"I can take care of myself," Leafpaw muttered.

"You're still an apprentice," Rosesplash reminded her. "So please stay out of danger."

Leafpaw rolled her eyes then bounded to the apprentices' den and into the den.

"Wait!"

Leafpaw was knocked off her paws by her littermate, Maplepaw.

"Maplepaw, it's just me Leafpaw!" Leafpaw exclaimed.

"I know," Maplepaw replied, stepping off her, so she could stand up. "Where were you?"

"Doing nothing," Leafpaw muttered, turning away from Maplepaw. "I'm tired, so can you please move out of the way? I need to go to my nest."

Maplepaw rolled his eyes. "I guess," Maplepaw meowed cheerfully. "But tell me the whole story tomorrow." Maplepaw padded back to his nest.

Leafpaw bounded to her nest and curled up in the nest. It felt nice to be in her nest then the one she made. Soon after, Leafpaw fell asleep.
