"Tony..." Steve smiled. He was doing it again, tossing and turning at his side, just like that day so long ago now on Clint's farm. "Does that melon of yours, ever stop?"

"Not really, no," he admitted. "Even when I couldn't speak...well, not at first. The first couple days I kinda checked out, but most of it...just keeps going."

"You were mad..." Steve chuckled, "told me that often enough."

Tony spluttered our a laugh. "Not what I was saying," he snorted. "I was trying to say Addy. I need to get home, Cap...at least call..." their eyes met in the faint moonlight through the curtains and for a split second, Tony wondered if he was imagining it, or if Steve wasn't looking at his lips...

"Phone call, open the door, either one," a new voice called.

"That your running buddy?"

Steve bit back a curse as he sat up, rolling away. "Explains why it took so long..." he froze as he opened the door. "Buck..."

"Stevie," Bucky nodded. "Nat dragged me out of mothballs to rescue your ass, again...got a thing for the Swiss alps? Cause not my favorite..."

"Please tell me you have a jet or you supersized that wing pack?" Tony demanded.

Sam snorted. "Musta left that in my other suit."

__________

"DADDY!!!" Addy shrieked, wrenching free of Natasha's grasp as the tail hit the runway and the jet's cargo bay fully opened.

It was dark, thunder rumbling over the city, rain pounding down, but no one much cared just then. Tony crushed his baby to himself and sucked in a heavy breath, his eyes squeezed shut against tears. "There's my girl," he pressed kisses to her temple, slow and shaken. "You hold down the fort?"

"We all learned the tale of the three little pigs," Natasha smirked. "Captain," she nodded. "I see you managed to keep you both alive."

"Rude," Tony huffed.

Steve shrugged. "The team? And the kid?"

"Kid has a name..." she murmured from the car. "Can we go now? Can't you do your reunion thingy out of the rain?"

"We can, yup. With burgers. Whats a reunion without food?"

"Want curly fries," Addy demanded as she poked at his cheeks. His beard wasn't overgrown any longer but it wasn't the sharp lines of his usual style. "I don't like it. Not you," she pouted.

Tony nodded, climbing into the car. "I'll fix it babes. Comin, Cap? Bird man? Guy I haven't acknowledged yet..."

Steve shared a look with Bucky as rain slicked his blonde hair to his forehead. "He knows," he murmured, brushing it back with his fingers.

Bucky huffed out a breath. "Guess he deserves that much," he mumbled. "Should I expect a quick death or He gonna drag it out?"

"Tony's not like that, Buck," Steve murmured, guiding him in out of the rain.

Perhaps he shouldn't have. The car was filled with a blanketed, suffocating, heaviness. Tony ignoring the man sitting as far from him as the limousine could afford, while Bucky clutched at his metal arm and stared resolutely out the window.

"Should we take the mission report?" Natasha suggested absently, seemingly unaffected.

"Thats boring," Addy declared. "What'd you eat while you were lost, daddy? Shiloh said you drank something. Daddy, suspish, right? Never take opened beverages!"

"Fish," Tony made a face, sticking out his tongue while he poked at her ribs. "Who let my kid watch murder mondays?"

Natasha snorted, laughing softly.

"You should eat, Tones," Steve murmured fussily.

"Happy, taking us upstate?" He asked as he lifted his burger, offering a bite to Addy who took it happily. "Pep reworking the tower?"

"Yes sir," Happy agreed.

Tony nodded contentedly and swiped one of Addy's fries, chuckling softly when she swatted at him in protest. "Shiloh don't have people?"

The girl glanced away while Natasha reached out to squeeze her knee. "She's got us. If you can manage being an avenger and raising a kid, I expect I can."

"Really?" She whispered.

"Yeah. I don't waste time saying things I don't mean."

Tony winked at his daughter. "I'll get the lawyers working on it for you, Tasha," he nodded.

The rest of the car ride was mostly hopeful little smiles from their shadow, the soft whirr of gears as Bucky struggled not to squirm, and Tony and Addy sassing each other. The little girl seemed determined to be certain her daddy would never stupidly drink what he was offered again, and demanding dibs on signing his cast first, should he wind up with one once he finally allowed someone to inspect his leg.

Much to Tony's frustration, he did.
