Blaze

I want a divorce
I want a divorce
I want a divorce

The same thing kept repeating in my head ever since Skye told me that she still wants a divorce. "I need to do this for me blazy, I'm sorry. I need to get to know myself better and grow as a person. I can't keep going like this, not knowing who I am. And I can't do it without having time to myself and having my space. Please that's all I ask for" she said.

I soon left after that, leaving with not much of a choice, I told her to give me some time to think about it. I don't want a divorce but I want to make her happy. I finally admitted my feelings for her, and I didn't plan to let her go. Ever. Forget so soon. I can't let it happen. I need to do whatever I can to win her back and get her to trust me. However, if she what's her space, I will give it to her. For however long she needs it. But a divorce? No way.

I told Syke that I'd revert to her but if I tell her so soon, then she'll think that I hadn't given it a thought. I decided to wait for a while before giving her a call.

....

I sat on my couch, fidgeting with a cushion that was placed beside me. I kept checking the time on my phone, waiting for the two hours I decided to wait to, pass. As the clock struck four, indicating that the two-hour wait was complete, I decided to stick to calling Skye and not banging on her door, seeing her, especially at this stage would be extremely difficult. I called her phone and a couple of rings later, I was on the brink of cutting the call when she answered.

"Hello, Blaze" she muttered. The first thing I noticed was the fact that she said 'hello' and not 'hi' as she usually does. Hello is lowkey worse than hey.
"Hi Skye," I started off and continued before she could "I made up my mind, I can't give you a divorce, but I'm willing you give you space and time. As much of it as you need," I said softly. I heard her sigh and I'm pretty sure she's shaking her head and biting her lip at this point. "Blaze please, we both know this isn't going to work. You know the reason and circumstances we got married under, I can't do this Blaze, please understand that" she said rather frustrated. "No Skye, I'm sorry, it won't happen, I will give you all the space and time you need but I will not grant you that divorce," I said back to her before ending the call.

Over the hour, she kept calling me back, but I either cut her calls or let them go straight to voicemail. She left a couple of voicemails telling me to call her back or she's sending a lawyer with divorce papers. Not taking her threat seriously, I decided to turn off my phone in the hopes that she too would get the message.

...

It's been two days since I called syke and told her that I would not be giving her the divorce she asked for. It had also been a day since I switched my phone back on only to see 27 unread messages and 9 missed calls from the last two days, all from Skye, although there was only one message from yesterday saying that she would be sending a lawyer over. The rest of the messages were from the day before that.

It was around quarter to seven in the evening, I was lazing around on my sofa, in front of the TV, watching Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, my comfort movie when one of my guards came in informing me that Ms Knight and another man were here to see me. My blood boiled when I heard him say, Ms Knight, she is not a Knight, she's a Caddel. My sweetheart came in after their presence was announced, along with another man, who looked old but not too old. He was wearing a black suit and had a briefcase in his hand. He looked extremely formal next to my Skye who was dressed in a pair of black ripped Abercrombie and Fitch jeans which were slightly rolled up at the bottom, along with a black Nike hoodie and white Nike airs.

Skye cleared her throat before speaking "Blaze, this is Mr Thomson, my lawyer

Skye cleared her throat before speaking "Blaze, this is Mr Thomson, my lawyer. Mr Thomson, this is Blaze, my um.... husband" she said unsure. Lawyer? What lawyer? Why lawyer? Skye spoke again, looking at my uncertain face "He is here with the divorce papers. He is my divorce lawyer. He will be helping me with my case. We don't want to take this case to court, so I am hoping you remain cooperative during this time, to make it easier for us both" she said assertively. "All you need to do is sign these papers, and we're good to go," she said just I opened my mouth to say something.

It was now my turn to speak "Excuse me? Did you just say cooperate? This is not solely your decision Skye, it's mine too. I already told you that I don't agree with it, you can't force me to go through with it. Please, Skye, I'm begging you, please don't do this" I literally cried, unashamed of the tears that were now flowing down my face. Skye looked at me, and came to me, bending down in front of me. She motioned for the lawyer to give us some space before she held my face in her hands, wiping my tears and planting a kiss on my forehead, just how I love it.

"I understand your perspective too Blaze, I really do. But please, for the first time in my life I'm getting this freedom, please just let me live it. I can't live the way I want to if I know that I'm still married and have commitments to make. Please just give me that" she says softly, rubbing my cheeks and wiping away my tears. I get her and I understand her feelings, but I feel like being selfish. I want her all to myself. I don't want to share my precious girl with the world. But I know that if I want her to be happy, then I'll have to. But I will grant her wish on one condition.

I look into her eyes and nod, "I'll give it to you, but on one condition." I said. She looked at me wearily and gave me a slight nod, indicating me to go on "we will meet on a regular basis and if you are willing to, then in the future, give us another shot. Give me a chance when you're ready, please," I looked at her hopefully. She shook her head in agreement "I'll call my lawyer to talk to yours then" I said standing up and giving her a tight hug and a kiss goodbye.
