Oh lord

We're butterflied

Blaze stood there with hurt masked across his face. His eyes were emotionless. It was scary. Scary. I saw Carter's eyes go wide through my peripheral view, we both swallowed a lump that had formed in our throats.

Carter slowly rolled the window on my side down, giving us a clearer view of Blaze. He stood there, looking stunned, his gaze shifting between the two of us, fury burning within him.

"B-blaze" I stuttered, but he paid no heed to me. He looked straight at Carter, pointing at him with his jaw clenched "You, out. now." he growled. Carter's body shook next to mine and he hesitantly made his way out, next to where Blaze was standing.

Before Carter could move another muscle, Blaze swung his arm, connecting it straight to Carter's nose. The latter stumbled back due to the suddenness and force of his brother's punch. He put his hand up to his nose, groaning, and before he knew it, Blaze was onto him again, throwing punch after punch, mercilessly at his own brother. Although it is understandable, it is not okay.

"You motherfucking lowlife, how dare you to do this to me. She's my wife, bastard." Blaze growled each word with a punch in the middle. Carter, who got a grip of himself was now beginning to fight back, throwing not only slaps and punches, but also crude words back at his brother.

"Your EX wife. And it's not like you treated her like your wife either. Beat her, bullied her, punished her. It's not like you were the perfect husband. She needs someone who will treat her right." Carter jabbed back

"And that person is you?" Blaze growled back

"It actually is, yes"

Blaze was about to snap back but I interrupted both of them. I yelled at the top of my lungs. They both momentarily stopped to look at me before continuing their assault. Without knowing better, I ran up to them and placed myself between them. They were too furious to notice my presence until Carter swung a hard punch, landing straight on my jaw. I winced in pain but managed to get maintain my balance. I've gone through worse. Carter's eyes were the size of tennis balls while Blaze looked even more furious than he previously was if that is possible.

Carter had tears in his eyes and Blaze just triggered him more

"This is why you aren't right for her. You are no better than I am, you too hurt her. Yes, I didn't treat her well, but at least my feelings toward her are genuine. Unlike you, I'm not using her to get back at the other brother." Blaze said lowly.

Blaze came forward, stepping in front of me, reaching out to inspect my face but the minute his skin came in contact with mine, I flinched. I stumbled back toward Carter, who quickly wrapped his arms around me without a second thought. Tears that had made their home in my eyes refused to leave but I couldn't care less. Honestly, I was glad, I didn't want them to think that I was weak.

Carter pulled me closer to him and lifted my jaw to face him using his index finger and thumb.
"I'm so sorry Blue I'm so so so sorry" he kept muttering, his eyes shut tight with tears leaking down. I momentarily forgot about Blaze standing only a few feet away from us when I stood up on my tippy toes and wiped Car's tears, placing a sweet peck on his cheek, silently telling him that it was okay. He opened his eyes steadily before holding my gaze. He started leaning forward before we heard the sound of a throat getting cleared behind us.

We broke out of our trance and spun around to see Blaze with clear betrayal shown across his face. His jaw was clenched so hard that I genuinely thought that it would snap any second. He looked back and forth between the two of us and then shook his head, turning his back on us and walking away.

I looked back at Carter who looked guiltier than he had ever before. I grasped his hand and he bowed his head down, giving me a chance to inspect his wounds.

I silently dragged him to his car and made him sit in the passenger's seat while I got comfortable in the driver's seat before gliding out of the mall parking lot. A light conversation floated in the car, about what just happened. Carter was having second thoughts about us and was constantly apologising for punching me while I waves him off and calmed him down, convincing him that we were good, and there was no need to backtrack. We decided to stick to where we were before the scene with Blaze happened but we agreed to take it slow.

Entering my apartment, I guided Carter to the bathroom where he perched up on the counter while I took the first aid kit out. He silently cleaned his wounds, trying to be as gentle as possible. Luckily none of his cuts were deep enough to require stitches. I put a bandaid on his cheek over a scary-looking cut and finished him off with a kiss on his forehead. Throughout it all, he never took his eyes off me. I blushed.

Carter got off the counter and flung himself onto me, giving me a bear hug, it was adorable. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I grabbed my phone from the counter while hugging him back. I quickly took a couple of mirror selfies before removing myself from his grasp.

He looked at me with bright eyes "show me show me show me" he chanted, jumping up and down like a kid in the candy store

I knew exactly what he was talking about but I wanted to pull his leg a little so I decided to act oblivious to what he was saying. I looked at him with a puzzled look before he whined and pouted "the picturessssss" he dragged on. I laughed my heart out at his cuteness and pulled his cheeks before pecking his lips and pulling my phone out to show him the picture

"It's cute isn't it," I said excitedly
"Mhmm," he mumbled. I looked up at him only to see that he wasn't looking at the picture. He hadn't looked at the picture at all. He was looking at me in some sort of awe. I blushed before he crashed his lips on mine, giving me a passionate and heart filled first kiss.

We pulled away after a while, reluctantly, might I add, to catch our breath. He looked at me with pure adoration shining in his eyes before he broke our gaze and looked around.

"So face masks?" he beamed pointing to a few face masks lying on the counter as though we hadn't just shared that mind-blowing kiss. I shook my head and nodded, causing him to squeal.

Yes, squeal.

I let out a small chuckle before agreeing "face masks it is" I replied before I was attacked by him again, in his world-famous hug.
