Chapter 15: Pregnant? (Shinjuro POV)
Shinjuro trembled at her very angry face, her carvings made his pockets cry. It wasn’t even a week after the last time they made love and now she acted so weird. Sometimes she cried others she laughed or even mixed both.
Shinjuro had to go patrolling at night and in day he would need to watch over her, sometimes he let her with a Kakuchi who later would try to coax him to let her see a doctor.
She ate the weird mixes of food ever and ate like for ten grown males. Sometimes she would ask him for sweet potatoes and ramen. She didn’t eat anything that he didn’t make himself. She wasn’t lazy she still did home chores.
He let the doctor from the Wisteria house to come and see her.
“oh, oooh!” the doctor cooed as he placed the binocular on his wife’s slightly swollen abdomen, “congratulations mister and mistress Rengoku,” he rose a brow, “you are expecting a baby.”
His eyes widened, “what?!”
Shinjuro wasn’t mad nor frustrated that his wife got pregnant so soon, rather was in joy.
Ruka had a smile as she placed a hand on her stomach rubbing it, “hey there little one.”
Shinjuro knew that it was 99.999999% sure it was a boy due to genes and that he would look the same as him so he was expecting that. He was ready to send a letter to his father and mother also to Ruka’s brother.
He felt proud and happy to be having a son.
He thanked the doctor a paid him before crouching before her and his eyes were bright with tears. Her hair was braided into the side and was held by a red elastic band.
The man placed his big calloused hand on her still pretty flat belly and kissed her lips lovingly, “thank you.” He was grateful of soon having a baby.
“I should thank you too,” you pressed your lips onto him as his hands held your waist and pulled you closer onto his lap, when you pulled away, “ah ha.” You used your index finger and slowly pushed him off with it.
He rolled his eyes and sighed robbing the foetus that just started to form inside his wives womb. “fine,” he kissed her again and cuddled on the futon his arms around her waist softly.
They stayed like that for a bit as whispered words of love to each other and promises.
***
Shinjuro headed to the garden where his messenger crow would be eating fruits to regain his strength before heading to work the next day.
The black crow huffed when the familiar voice of Shinjuro called out to him. After all he didn’t get paid enough to help the annoying and loud Rengoku.
“can you take this to my father, Hiko?” he asked calmly as he showed a small folded paper.
Hiko was a male crow that was pretty much lazy and stubborn, but obeyed orders so he leaped down onto the extended arm of his master and let him tie it around the small red leg that was covered in raven feathers.
The flew off into the skies leaving the man behind.
Shinjuro was worried after all, you were very much turning into a gluttony in that time. He figured that his son was going to be one too. And he should start prepare for the ritual that he had to let his wife do. Maybe her eyes would turn to a darker colour of red.
He should let Tanjuro also know, after all he was the only living relative of his bride. He was soon to be married to that girl, Kie. He was going to see if he would personally go to see her. it wasn’t far from what he remembered.
Tanjuro did say that after they get married he would move farther away to avoid any possible attacks from the demons again. After all both him and Kie were the last Kamado alive. And Tanjuro was from the main branch.
Well who knew if there were more from that clan, it was huge and many were married off and changed names. It would be know who it was from their small round pupils.
“Shinjuro, did Hiko already leave?” your voice cuts his train of thoughts making him turn around as the sun slowly started to set.
The older male nodded as he walked to the engawa and sat down, “tomorrow I will do to your brother’s place to give him the news personally,” he pulled his zori sandals off, “do you wish to tag along?”
You nodded, “I will not become a burden then yes.”
He huffed, “you are not a burden at all, Ruka.”
He found Ruka odd, how she changed over the months they knew each other, from when they first met and now how she had two different personalities she smiled more and chatted openly, while in the past she was very much closed off and barely spoke even if it was clear she was against the sudden wedding.
But then she was different she spoke more and was more confident even if she physically lacked emotion she knew how to express it with her voice and hands even if her face was still blank and barely had any face expression.
She struggled sometimes with certain things.
But what Shinjuro always wondered was why she couldn’t master Sun Breathing. He himself wasn’t sure why.
His father only said: ‘she can’t due to her mark.”
Mark?
Shinjuro still questioned the older male’s words. Her skin was clear and smooth, no marks at all, nowhere on her body there wasn’t any marks, no cars that represented that she was a Kamado. . .
Wait. . . was that what he meant?
She was a Kamado due to her eyes and that she was raised by them, but. . .
“let’s go inside to eat.” You cut him off again your face twisted to a face of concern. You were worried since he was staring off again into the distance.
He blinked twice, “yeah-yeah, let’s go."
