Chapter 10 - Assault

The next day, the rest of Levi's squad and Hange's squad sat at the table. You stood in the doorway, listening in on the conversation. Hange told everyone of Pastor Nick's demise, regretting their choice to not be more careful. The interior found out he was helping the scouts and had paid the price... It was odd reminiscing about him this way. He treated you like the plague as a child, but he was finally turning around his way of thinking...

"What exactly did he pass on to us?" Armin asked curiously.

"He gave us Crista... her true identity is Historia Reiss. The illegitimate daughter of Lord Reiss. Hange, how many nails were missing? You saw him, right?" Levi replied.

"Oh... only for a moment. But all of his nails were gone." Hange said, hauntingly.

"I'm impressed... people talk after one nail. He took his beliefs to his grave... which also means, the interior has no idea we know about the Reiss family, and their significance to the walls." Levi continued.

"There's more..." you say softly, all heads in the room turning towards you.

"Y/n? Do you know something?" Hange asks inquisitively.

"Historia isn't the only illegitimate Reiss child... I'm her older sister."

Everyone's eyes widened in unison, Levi even furrowing his brow in confusion.

"Y/n..." Historia says softly.

"I was given to the government when I was 10... I grew up being trained as the interior's top assassin... I'm here because they sent me to kill Levi..." you say as you clench your fists.

"An assassin??" Armin asks worriedly.

"You were going to kill the Captain?! How the hell can we trust what you say!! For all we know, you've been the traitor this whole time!" Jean says loudly, standing out of his seat.

"Shut it, Kirshtein. Y/n has proven herself loyal to the scouts. If she wanted to betray us she would have already." Levi assured as he looked at you.

"Wow, an assassin! They really will do anything to protect the secret of the walls... which is, what exactly?" Hange asks curiously.

You were about to reply then a girl walked in and said she had a message for Levi. he read it as she explained herself, his face turning serious.

"Everyone get your gear, now! Leave no trace of us being here..." he said hurriedly.

Once everyone got their gear, you all headed up towards the woods and out of sight. The interior sent the MP's to find all of you, and apprehend Eren and Historia.

"Holy shit... we barely made it... would they have cut our nails off?" Connie asks numbly.

"Erwin's message was the brass is putting a freeze on all scouy expeditions outside of the walls... they're putting us in a corner and making this public. Hange, I need to borrow part of your squad. We're going to Trost District. We'll find our enemy there while the MP's search for us outside the walls." Levi says sternly.

"Right. Moblit, you're with me, everyone else join Levi squad." Hange replies as they mount their horse.

"Hange! I remembered something Ymir and Bertholdt said when I was taken... it's on this paper." Eren says as he hands her a note.

"I'll read it soon. Best of luck, everyone!"

Hange and Moblit take off together as the rest of you road your horses towards Trost. You look back as you notice a sudden shining light on the ground a distance away. You glare as it disappears, riding off next to Levi in the night. You were being watched... and you had a pretty damn good guess of who it could've been.
