Chapter 7 - Confrontation

What a shit show... not only was there not a breach, but there were titans everywhere inside of Wall Rose. The entire day was spent with the Scout and Garrison Regiments surveying the wall and the surrounding areas to stop the titans. Many veterans were lost... and now, the residents of both Wall Maria and Wall Rose took shelter in Wall Sina. Food shortages and civil distraught were not far behind... something desperately needed to change. Humanity needed to strike back, but the question is how?

You were now on a horse alongside multiple wagons, heading towards a base close to Wall Maria. Hange, Levi, Pastor Nick, Eren, Armin, and Mikasa were discussing a new plan to retake Shiganshina: learn to harden his titan, plug both of the holes in the walls, and find more answers about the titans in Eren's old cellar. When you arrived at the new base, you quickly helped unload all of the supplies as Hange talked to Nick with Levi.

"Have you seen the light yet, Pastor?" Hange asked sarcastically. Pastor Nick remained silent. "Oh, for the love of god, make up your mind! Lives are at stake!!"

"I'm sorry, I simply do not have the privilege to tell. Not myself, or the other believers are at liberty to tell the truth." Nick replies.

"Oh, well that's fucking perfect! Thanks for nothing, Pastor, it's been a real pleasure!"

"I cannot offer help... but someone among you can."

You drop the supplies you're holding, causing all three of them to look at you. Your eyes widen as you look at Pastor Nick, waiting for the worst. You glance at Levi and see the way he is looking at you.

"Er, well, the person you'll want to talk to goes by the name Crista Lenz. Only she can tell you the truth of the walls..." Pastor Nick continues.

You turn away and pick up the supplies off the floor and put them away.

Crista?... what the hell would she know... she's a mediocre soldier and a child... you gasp as you realize who she is... Historia...

"For Section Commander Hange! From Commander Ewrin!" Sasha exclaimed as she burst through the door.

Hange thanked her then read the letter quickly. "There are scouts trapped at the old scout tower in the west! We need to go help them!" they say as they hand Sasha a potato. You watch them run off, while Levi stays behind. You try to walk off to join the rescue, but you feel a familiar, strong hand grab your arm.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about what Pastor Nick said, would you Cadet?" Levi asked in monotone.

You turned your head and met his gaze, stoic as always. "No, sir" you whisper.

He raises an eyebrow and looks at you, his expression unchanging and unamused. Before you could speak again, he pulls you into a room, shutting and locking the door behind him. He turns to face you and crosses his arms.

"You've been on edge ever since the Pastor showed up screaming about the walls in Stohess. Then he gives us a lousy hint at who knows the truth, but by your reaction, you didn't think it was Crista." Levi said darkly.

"I hardly think now is the time to get silly details out of nervous behavior, sir. There are other scouts in need of rescue, and I'd like to join my squad." you say, trying to avoid any and all conversation about Pastor Nick.

Levi stands up straight, daring you to try and get past him. You sigh as you try to walk past him, but he grabs your arm tightly and pulls you away from the door. You swing your free arm around, aiming for his face, but he catches your fist and shoves you face first into the stone wall. You growl softly and jerk your head back, hitting his face, his grip slightly loosens and you elbow his side, causing him to let go of you completely. You grab underneath his arm and throw him on the floor, adrenaline powering you as you pant heavily. You turn to walk out of the door, but Levi grabs you by the chin from behind, your eyes widening as you feel something sharp against your neck.
