Chapter 1 (Training)

(Y/N pov)[training memory]

I was running through the forest. I had to keep my breathing steady. Thankfully i didn't have to worry about demons due to the few wisteria trees planted around the forest and nearby village. It was for safety i guess, but it was still possible of being destroyed (foreshadowing).

My speed speed up. My breathing stayed the same as before. I jumped up into a tree avoiding a trap that my dad had set up.

'There aren't many traps around here...there must be quite a few up ahead then' i thought.

I jumped into the next tree and broke a few sticks off to use to detect traps.

I throw one. SNAP. I was right. I throw another stick. CRACK. Another trap.

I take a deep breath and drop the sticks. I take a few steps back. I stop and take a deep breath before starting a run to leap over a few traps. I lightly smile when i dodge all the traps.

I had to soon turn around and make my way back to my home where my father was waiting.

I take a different route home, which was usually full of traps.

I started to run back home. Occasionally jumping up dodging traps.

Once i make it home, im greeted by my father sitting outside smiling.

"Your back Y/N. Not even a scratch seen. Good job. You have only been training for a week. Tomorrow you will try something different. If you take less that 2 months with training you will wait another 2 years before taking the exam" my father says

"Im sure ill finish training quickly- but why do i have to wait?"

"Because your too young."

"Dad! Thats not-"

"Yes it is an excuse. Your mother died because of a demon."

"Dont bring mother into this. I wont take the exam until im 12, under once condition, only if i can say that i finished my training when I finish it soon."

"Deal."

"Deal." We say shaking hands

(Y/N's fathers POV)

I smile at my child who keeps the same solemn look on their face.

"Dinner is ready by the way. Go ahead and eat im not hungry" i say

"Alright, thanks" they say before walking away to go eat.

I sigh. I look into the forest. "I think Y/N will be ready soon. But i want her to learn all the needed skills to be a demon slayer before she takes the exam." I say to a man that steps out from behind a tree.

"I think so too. But until they are 12? Isn't that a long time? With their ability they should atleast be able to take the exam next year when they are 11?" The man asks

"No. Please fix the next part of Y/N'a training by the morning." I say

"Alright."

(Y/N's POV)

I stared at my dinner. I begin to eat slowly.

'I wish i could finish my training already and prove to my dad that i can be a demon slayer at my age!' I thought

'Y/N, you and me both know that you will finish training soon. You should learn all skills first before taking the exam. It will make it easier to climb the ranks.' Says a woman's voice in my head.

(Present day, Y/N's POV)

My father handed me my sword. "Good luck. You better come back in one piece." He says

I simply nod "i will"

I was now 12. The exams started today and i was finally able to take the exam. I waved goodbye to my father who waved back and i began to walk away. I knew my father was watching walk away with tear filled eyes. My haori waved in the wind.

My haori was a dark shade of (f/c) that faded into black.

I would occasionally look up to view the clouds or watch the birds or something.

Later on i started walking in a forest full of wisteria trees. I smiled a small bit. I looked at the hilt of my sword.

'I know all 7 breathing styles of my mothers breathing. My father also knew the style for some reason i never knew. I am stronger than i ever was now. I still wonder to this day why my dad finally agreed to let me become a demon slayer anyways.' I thought before shaking my head to get rid of my thoughts. I soon made it to a small clearing.

"I must be here then" i say under my breath.

Soon many people appeared in the clearing. I made sure not to get too close to anyone. No one caught my eye so i just ignored them all. Everything that mattered was my life.

(Time skip)

It had been how long since the exam started? I don't remember now, all i know is i have killed 2 demons already.

I sat in a tree, waiting for another demon. Some demons were larger than others, some weren't.

A heard a footstep. I took a deep breath, and touched my sword, waiting for the figure to appear under you. When it appeared into your sight, you let your hand off of your sword

'Oh, just another person.' I thought

The person continued to walk until they looked up and saw me.

"Oh hi" they said.

"Hi?" I say

"Im Lani (this is my oc btw, she is 15)"

"Just Lani?"

"Mhm. I grew up in an orphanage. Its a long story, whats your name."

"Im Y/N L/N"

"Its nice to meet you Y/N!"

"You too Lani"

"Want to walk around with me?"

"Sure."

(Another time skip to after the exam)

Not many people remained after the exam. I stood next to Lani. 2 girls explained everything about the ore and whatever, i wasn't really paying attention. I was busy looking at the wisteria.

We chose our ore's for our Swords to be made.

Lani chose a ore that was a greyish-pink ore. It was fitting. Lani had Orange colored eyes, brown hair, and used storm breathing, something she made herself im guessing. Lani wore a Haori that was grey with pink and orange designs on it.

I chose a ore that was black. Pure black, it looked like obsidian. It looked like it had some dark purple and dark (f/c) hint too it, but I didn't pay to much attention.

After choosing our ores, and birds (mostly crows) came around us, we were soon allowed to go back home.

Lani looked at me "could i go with you? I dont really have anywhere to go since before i left to come to the exam ,or whatever its called, the village i was being trained at burned down." 

I nodded a bit "sure. Im sure my father will allow it."

"Great! Maybe we can be siblings?"

"Mm...maybe.." i say. I was slowly opening up to Lani. We began to head back to my home.

Fun facts!

Y/N and Lani became rather close at the exam.

Y/N's father was scared half to death that his child wouldn't return home safely

Lani's true parents are demons.
