                 Chapter Seven: Unexpected

"Well... is there any other secrets I should now?" I asked as I looked at him. His eyes looked at me as though he had a million things to tell me but he didn't know how to say them. I sighed. "I love you." I said and I kissed him passionately.

My dad came back into the room with red puffy eyes. "Dad.... whats wrong?" I asked worried. He sat down beside me and started to cry. The Doctor was the person to answer my question. "You've been diagnosed with leukemia." He said still not looking away from his clipboard. "WHAT!" I screamed as I started to cry. "H-How long d-does she h-have." My dad said barley being able to breath. "Anywhere from six to eighteen months." The Doctor said finally looking up from his clipboard.

I was balling my eyes out. Alorn didn't say anything, he was just staring at me. The Doctor left us alone for a while. The crying went on for almost half an hour and then the Doctor came back. "Treatments start tomorrow at eight A.M. Come down to the radiation room on the tenth floor." He said and then left again. I got up and grabbed Dad's coat. "I'm going to go for a walk..." I said walking out of the door. Alorn ran up to me and grabbed my hand. "I'm coming to." He said.

We went down to the cafeteria and got something to eat. I felt fine, I didn't understand what happened to me. I had always been a very healthy kid. I hated pop and only had chocolate and candy at special celebrations. I hadn't done drugs or anything. And my family never had anyone that had got any type of cancer. I was always different though, I needed braces when I was 10, no one else did. I grew a lot taller then anyone in my family. And I matured a lot faster. I hated being different.

At about seven I started back to my room. It was hard walking with a broken leg, this was the first time I'd broken anything. I was almost there and I saw a little girl who obviously was only breathing because that machine was hooked up to her. Who I'm guessing is her father was holding a lady, probably her mother, and they were both crying. I knew that this was probably the last night that she would live. I couldn't help it, I started to cry. Alorn had gone home a while ago, so I was the only person who could hear my little sobs. Which probably was good because I probably looked like a phsyco.

I just stood there for a few minutes crying and then I saw a Doctor walk into her room. The little girls parents kissed their daughter and walked to the other side of the room. I knew what the Doctor was about to do and I couldn't watch. I started walking quickly down the hall to my room. My Dad was asleep in the chair again. He looked peaceful and happy. I didn't know when I'd see him smile again so I just watched him for a while. At about ten I fell asleep and had a dream about what would happen to me tomorrow.

I woke up to my father shaking me. "Its time for your first treatment." He said with a frown. "Great..." I said sarcastically.
