"Ok. We're on our way. The taxi is downstairs. We'll be fine." You said. You tensed up as your friend moaned and gripped on your arm that wasn't weighed down by bags.

"I'm sorry." She said through a gasp.

"It's fine." You muttered. As soon as the elevator arrived you hurried in and pressed the button for the ground floor. The lights flickered and you looked up at them. Then there was a whirring sound and the elevator stopped.

"What's happening?" Your friend asked.

"I'm sure it's nothing." You said nervously. Pressing various buttons didn't do anything. You couldn't open the door to call for help when you pulled on it. Unsure what else to do, you went to your bag to look for your phone. You had one bar of signal. Trying to call for help you found that your call kept dropping.

"Maybe send a text?" Your friend suggested. She groaned, louder this time. You looked at her worried.

"Right. We're going to get out of here and to the hospital in time." You lied. Your friend glared at you as she held onto the railing that ran across the middle of the elevator walls. Hen had agreed to meet you both at the hospital after her shift. Your friend had wanted someone who knew what was going on to be there with her. Hen had agreed, she and Karen had been helping her through the pregnancy after her partner left. You, Eddie, Buck and Athen had gone and gotten all of her things for her. Athen even found a lawyer to help your friend keep her apartment after an argument over who got to live here had occurred.

"I sent the text. I can't get a text back because of the signal but it's sent. Which is good. Maybe the power will come back on and the lift will move." You said as you arranged the bags so your friend could sit on them.

"I do not want to give birth in a lift!" Your friend complained. After a long while of you trying to sooth your friend, you heard sirens. Then you heard shouting in the stairwell. There was a lot of shouting and then a thud on the top of the elevator that caused you both to look up. Your friend groaned and scrunched up her face as she squeezed your hand. When you looked back up at the top of the elevator you saw Buck working on opening the hatch at the top.

"You can get her out of here right?" You asked him once he dropped in and detached his harness. "She doesn't want to give birth in the lift."

"Ok. Well the good news is, I've helped a few women give birth. It was on a full moon. A lot of yoga pants..."

"Buck?" You said when he seemed to zone out, deep in thought.

"Hen is going to come down once we've secured the Elevator but we're not sure if we'll be able to move it yet. The whole block had no power." Buck explained.

"What is he saying!" Your friend yelled through another pained yell.

"You're giving birth in the lift." You answered, trying to make light of the situation.

"What!" She yelled back. You looked at Buck who had got up to retrieve a bag that was being lowered down to him. He tried to help make your friend more comfortable as Hen came down.

"We need to get you out of here." Buck said to you.

"I can't leave her!" You insisted.

"Well the captain says it's unsafe and..."

"If she's staying I'm staying." You snapped.

"Ok. We're staying Cap." Buck said into the radio clipped to him as he rolled his eyes and smiled at you. "What do you need us to do Hen?"
