"So let's see what we've got!" Buck said excitedly as he jogged up the steps to the kitchen. He stopped when he saw the empty sides. "Where's the stuff?"

"No one dropped it off apparently." Chimney said as he leant against the counter.

The shift tcked towards the end and Buck started to get a bit worried that you hadn't shown up. You'd made a bundle of baked goods for everyone to take home for their families. Buck had been trying to get his hands on just one cookie for days.

"Sorry I'm late." You said as you hurried up with several bags on your arm. Hen helped you carry the bags to the kitchen side. All the boxes were neatly labelled.

"Finally! I have been waiting for these." Buck said with excitement. You shoved the box in his hands and moved on to find Eddies. "Do they know it's Christmastime at all?"

"I guess not." Eddie muttered back.

"You ok (Y/N)?" Nash said to you as you handed him one box.

"I had another batch but something in the oven popped and everything burned." You complained and showed them a small burn on your arm.

"Woah! You know what, I can fix that right up!" Chimney assured you as he hurried to find his bag.

"Well. We got you a gift." Buck said cheerfully.

"Really." You said as you were shooed to the station sofa and Hen started inspecting your burn, which really was very small and had only bothered you a little.

"Yeah. Wait here." He said and ran off.

"I don't think I can go anywhere else." You said quietly as Chimney started laying out creams and bandages. You could see Eddie laughing as he watched them fuss. Buck returned walking backwards very slowly and clearly carrying something.

"Surprise!" He said. When he turned around he held a small dalmatian in his arms. The puppy was definitely several months old. The poor thing had three legs and an injured eye. Buck had put a tiny fireman's helmet on his head. "We adopted a second station house but we needed a home for him when we're not here so... I said we'd take him." Buck grinned as he sat the puppy next to you and he immediately snuggled into your side and fell asleep.

"We rescued him two months ago. No one else wanted to adopt him. But they adopted all the others." Nash said disapprovingly.

"Well that worked out well then. He looks good in a fire hat." You said as you stroked him with our free arm.

"Well this looks fine. The cream should stop the pain and I'd keep the bandage on to help with the swelling. I would say it'd heal up by the end of the week. By the end of the month it'll be a tiny mark." Chimney assured you as he and Hen finished on your arm.

"Well thanks for coming to the rescue." You said cheerfully.

"The shifts ended. Let's get this guy home." Buck said. He grabbed his box of treats and said good bye to everyone. The new shift filled in to take over and several people insisted on stopping to pet the puppy.
