Nora

I sat down in the garden with my book still in hand. I wasn't reading it though, I was quietly praying to myself that the man inside wouldn't choose me to be his bride.

"Nora! Nora, where are you?" I heard my mom yell and I cursed under my breath.

"Right here!" I shouted back and heard her heels hit against the concret.

"What are you doing in the grass, honey? You're going to ruin your dress." She frowned.

"It's just a dress." I rolled my eyes and got up.

"Well you still need to look presentable, Mr. Castello wanted to speak to you before he leaves." I followed her inside not wanting to argue with her and we arrived in the sitting room. I took a seat beside my brother and waited for my father to speak.

"I would like to thank the both of you for coming here. We are glad you chose our daughter as your wife to be..." My heart sunk to the bottom of my ass. I have to marry this man.

I didn't even know what to say. I was speechless. Why me though? I'm just average. Plus I'm clumsy and I hate socializing. I don't pay much attention to anything and have zero skills to become a Donna. I guess I have no other choice though, you can't really tell the Don no, can you?

I sighed deeply and quietly got up and headed to my room. I slipped off my dress and took off my makeup. I sat in the shower in a deep thought, letting the water just run on me for about an hour before actually washing off and getting out. I dressed in a silk pajama set and got in my bed before falling asleep.

A few weeks went by and I've never been so stressed in my life before. I have five wedding planners up my ass about stupid shit like what colors I wanted the flowers in the church. I honestly didn't care so I told them to choose whatever they thought was best. Currently I'm in a dress shop with my mom and Luciano's mom. I met her a few days after the dinner and she has been nothing but super nice to me. She looked so young to be a mother I thought she was his sister at first.

"Have you found a dress you like?" Luciano's mother, Luna, asked.

"Not yet." I shook my head.

"I found some that I think will fit you beautifully." She pulled my hand and brought me to a changing room. She called over one of the female store associates to help me and handed her all the dresses she picked out.

"I also found some dresses for you, sweetheart." My mother said and tried handing me the dresses but Luna stopped her.

"Well she can try them on after she's tried on the ones I picked out." She dismissed my mother.

"Or she can try them on at the same time." My mother said, side eyeing Luna.

"Well I gave her the ones I picked out first so she'll try them on first, then yours." Luna argued.

Ever since the two met, they've never really seemed to get along with each other. Not sure why but their bickering was getting annoying.

"I'll try all of them." I said before taking the dresses my mom picked and hanging them on the wall behind me. I got into the first dress and it was beautiful. I really did like the dress but it was missing something. Regardless I still went out and showed them the dress.

"Oh my gosh sweetheart, you look amazing." Luna jumped excitedly. I smiled at her compliment and looked at myself in the mirror. I twirled around in it before going out to try on the rest.

After hours of trying on dresses, I still couldn't find one that I really loved so we decided to go to a little coffee shop across from the bridal shop.

"Are you excited for the wedding?" Luna asked.

"Of course she is." My mom answered and I knew it was about to be some shit.

"Well she can clearly answer that herself." Luna rolled her eyes.

"She's my daughter, I think I know how my daughter feels." My mother retaliated. My mom knows everything but how I feel.

"Clearly not, look at her face. That look says it all." Luna rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry Luna, I am happy about this wedding." I looked at her with a warm smile.

"You see, she's completely fine." My mother said and Luna mumbled something under her breath before I spoke up, "how about we go home and continue shopping another day?" I suggested.

"Of course honey, you must be tired." Luna said and grabbed my hand to leave with her. Before she could drag me out I pulled money out of my purse and dropped it onto the table. My mother followed closely behind us and we all left the cafe.

"Call me anytime, mia figlia." Luna embraced me and I hugged her back.

"Of course, thanks for your help today." I thanked her. She told my mom a sly goodbye before going into her car.

"Something about her is off." My mother warned. I'm sure she just doesn't like her. She says that about everyone she doesn't like. We got in the car and drove home. Once we arrived, I went up to my room and read for the rest of the day. No wedding plans, moms, or forced husbands to bother me. Simply just me and my books.

The next morning I slept in from exhaustion. I'm mentally tired from the stress of this stupid wedding. I hate that I can't speak my mind but I guess it's for the best.

I finally got out of bed after staring at the ceiling for about an hour and got up to take a shower. Once I finished in my shower I got dressed in simple blue jeans and a light pink t-shirt. I walked downstairs and of course my mom was waiting for me at the dining room table.

"I have some great news sweetheart!" She called off the wedding? How amazing!

"What is it?" I asked.

"The Castellos would like you to move into their estate by tonight and the wedding will be pushed up. Your wedding is in two weeks!" Oh my fucking God...
