Elliott
It's been a week since I reunited with my family who I thought hated me. It turned out they actually wanted me, but my mother's parents made them give me up. It's been as long that Sarah has lived with us and we found out she suffers PTSD. She has frequent nightmares and that's as far as her episodes go thankfully.
The first one earned me a punch in the face, but I didn't hold it against her. Jessie prescribed her some medication to help, and they seem to be working. She's been having fewer nightmares and last night she slept the whole night through. I checked on her periodically and she always seemed peacefully sleeping.
She wanted to wait for her attacks to get under control before meeting with my captain and I was understanding about that. It's what we were doing today. I'm sitting in my uniform while she sits in street clothes and her shoulder now fully healed, but sore sometimes.
I gave him a briefing last week so Sarah wasn't walking in blind to talk with him. "Your sister took the liberty of filling me in on your background. She is one of my finest officers and I know I can trust her judgment. I just have one question," he says softly and Sarah nods for him to continue. "I understand that you suffer PTSD. Is it going to affect your duty out on the streets?"
"No sir," she says softly. "My attacks have only been at night while sleeping. Elliott and her wife were able to help me get some medication to subside the attacks and they have been helping. I promise to tell you if I have an episode before a shift or if it should occur while on duty."
He nods at this and says with a smile, "Come in next week. I'll have everything ready then for you to start."
"Thank you sir," she says with a relieved sigh and smiles. "It would be an honor to serve alongside my sister."
"Elliott, give her a quick tour and then you and Gary can start your patrol," he says with a smile.
I nod lightly and start our tour through the department with Gary joining us. She got a lot of cat calls from scumbags waiting to be detained. One of the dirty cops tried to grab her chest but I intercept, grabbing his hand and throat.
I slam him into the wall, two feet off the ground. "Keep your grimy hands off my sister Darren," I bellow, squeezing his throat.
"Elliott," Sarah says in a soothing tone with a hand on my shoulder. "Put him down."
I slowly lower him back down as the captain walks up to us. "Darren, you're fired. This was your third attempt at sexual harassment in the office," he says with a stern voice and adverts his gaze to me. He gives me an apologetic look and says softly, "I'm sorry Elliott, but you're suspended for the week."
"I'm sorry sir, won't happen again," I say quietly, my hands shaking with anger.
"I know Elliott, you're protective of the female officers of this department and I respect that," he says softly, patting my shoulder. "It's more of you taking time to cool off."
I nod lightly and glare at Darren. His face turns white as he stares back in my eyes. Fellow officers start laughing and murmuring about him wetting his pants with just a simple glare. I look down and there was indeed a wet spot in his groin area. "Remember my face the next time you think of laying a hand on a woman without her consent," I say in a warning growl.
He scrambles away from me and the department roars with laughter. Sarah lifts my hands and I realize I had dug my nails into my palms, causing me to bleed. "Come on. I'll take you to see Jessie. I've seen her calm you down this week," Sarah says softly and I nod lightly.
We were waiting in curtain three before Jessie walks in, reading her clipboard. "Okay officer, let's see your hands," she says quietly before looking up at me. Concern and worry quickly bleeds in her eyes and takes a look at my hands. She looks at me with tears in her eyes and asks, "Jesus Elliott, what happened?"
