The day after your encounter with the supposed hybrid, you pleasantly found your basket left at the front porch of your house. So, they did understand, you smiled to yourself. Now that you knew about the friend in the forest, you did your best to try and get them to show themselves. You made breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the wolf and left it outside.

On the first day you cooked for your forest neighbor, the food wasn't touched. But by the third day, you noticed the plate you left out would be empty within an hour of you putting it on the porch. You usually waited around an hour before checking the plate, but since you wanted to catch the wolf, you decided to check around 20 minutes. It should've given the hybrid ample time to travel to your porch and start eating.

You leaned against the door inside your house and stared at the clock on your phone, waiting for the right time. As soon as the 20th minute struck, you at once opened the door to discover the large grey wolf halfway done with the food you had set out. You let out a smug smile,

"Finally caught you,"

To your surprise, the wolf didn't run but they only stared while backing away.

"Well, it was bound to happen soon. Come in if you want," you turned to further enter the house, leaving the door open.

The wolf finished the food, slowly entered, and followed you to the kitchen. You took out a beverage from the fridge and continued to talk to the curious hybrid,

"I have an extra room if you want to stay here. But I will ask that you take a shower before you sleep on the bed. There are some extra clothes in the rooms that you could use as well."

The wolf looked at the second floor of the house then back at you.

"You don't have to, of course. I also have a shed in the back that has some hay you can sleep on. Don't ask me why I have hay though. I know you probably don't trust me, and I get it. But I promise I won't hurt you. I just want to help."

The wolf stared at you for a moment then stalked towards the second floor of your room.

Victory, you smiled to yourself before going to the fridge to plan for lunch.

*~*~*

After 30 minutes or so, a tall, muscular man with grey hair and matching grey wolf ears and tail, wearing sweatpants and a tight shirt walked into the kitchen once more. He looked at you curiously as you chopped vegetables on the counter near the sink. Your scent of sweet roasted marshmallows draped around him like a warm hug. He took a moment to revel in it, his tail wagging happily. He couldn't believe it. You were his mate, and, in all honesty, it made him uncomfortable. Of course, human mates weren't totally uncommon, but humans easily rejected their mates all the time. And if they did accept their hybrid mates, the hybrid usually suffered some kind of abuse.

So, he was cautious. He had been watching you carefully throughout the previous week. He saw the hybrids in your house, and they looked happy but then you sent them away. This worried him a little. Where did you send them to? Were hybrids disposable to you? It made him very hesitant to approach you. Were you evil like other humans?

He did have to admit that he felt his hesitation melt away when he first saw you slumbering on the blanket. You looked so innocent and cute sleeping there with your mouth a little open. The little snores that you emitted were also an oddly appealing sound to him. He wanted to snuggle with you on the spot. When you started leaving food for him, he knew he had to take a chance on you.

"Wolfie?" you called to the tall man, trying to get his attention. In a second, he blinked and looked at you with wide eyes, his tail freezing.

"I-It's Namjoon..." he said softly while blushing, his tail beginning to wag once more. In one word, you had taken a top predator and made him feel like a puppy.
