Chapter 53

You chopped the vegetables quietly in the kitchen while waiting. Once Jieun had announced she was leaving to pick up the rest of the mates, a restless silence had fallen upon the house. Although you were all so excited and ready for the mates to come home, having to wait for them to arrive was torture. That was well over three hours ago. Hobi had disappeared into the nest with Beomgyu while Yoongi and Jin stayed in the living room. You had decided to just start cooking anything that came to your mind. You were sure that the four would be coming home starving after spending days eating jerky and sandwiches.

"What are you cooking eonnie?" Da-hee's gentle voice pulled you out of your thoughts, "We've already had dinner,"

"Uhm....everything," you just said while staring at the amount of chopped ingredients surrounding you. Da-hee giggled while she watched you look at the veggies in confusion.

"Sorry, I just, I'm cooking everything that everyone loves because they're finally coming home," you blushed while laughing at yourself.

"I wish I could help,"

"It's okay Da-hee," you began to finally move and put things in the pan, "Do you like cooking?"

"I'm not very good at it..." she blushed, "I'm better at baking,"

"Oh? Maybe you can teach me one day. You don't have to do any work, you can just tell me what to do."

"That would be nice," Da-hee smiled as she stepped closer to you. This place was so different than the last house she had been in. Da-hee made sure that you had gone back to chopping when she carefully pressed her head on your arm and rubbed it against you. Her tail flicked happily while she continued to rub against you.

You had felt the way Da-hee was brushing up against your arm and decided not to say anything about it. You were just glad that she felt comfortable enough to have been that close to you. When she finished, she stepped away with her cheeks pinker than ever and she began asking you questions about the food once more.

Yoongi stood in the entryway between the kitchen and the dining area watching Da-hee be affectionate with you. He would've been more jealous if the scene didn't melt his heart. Since Da-hee was a cat hybrid it was easy for him to imagine his and your kit in her place. Yoongi crossed his arms and leaned against the threshold, smiling happily at that thought of your and his kits cooking together in the kitchen. But as soon as the thought came to his head, he remembered that it would be a while until that actually happened especially since you banned him from being the first dad. To avoid any more unwanted thoughts, Yoongi turned around and headed to the hallway where Jin had been pacing back and forth for the past twenty minutes.

"Hyung, you gotta calm down,"

"They should be here by now," Jin hugged Yoongi and stuffed his face in the cougar's shoulder, "What if Jieun got in an accident on the way there? What if they all got in an accident on the way back? Yoongi what if they're not okay?"

In Jin's panic, he had dug his fingernails deep into Yoongi's skin making the cougar yelp in pain, "Hyunghyunghyungow!"

"Sorry, sorry, I just...I can't...I don't know if I can hold it in any longer," Jin whimpered while Yoongi rubbed the sore spot in his arm.

"It's okay, hyung, they'll be here soon,"

"I know..I just...what if the Raidens found Jungkook and that's why they're not back yet? What if they have to stay at another place for another night and we have to keep waiting and—!"

Yoongi had grabbed Jin and kissed the otter hybrid to shut him up. The older hybrid had initially frozen against the cougar but eventually melted into his touch and returned the kiss greedily,
