The next morning Namjoon woke up to an empty bed. He figured that people were probably still upset with him from the night before and got up without giving him any affection. He stretched out in the bed and scratched his head before crawling out and going downstairs for breakfast. As he walked into the kitchen, he found it unusually empty. But lucky for him, there was still some coffee in the pot. The wolf hybrid poured himself a cup before scrounging around for food.
"It's in the microwave," Jin said while walking into the kitchen. The wolf hybrid didn't respond but only checked the machine to see a plate of food in there for him.
"I'll eat this at the clinic. Where's the food for the patients?"
"Don't bother, we already took it to them."
Namjoon's eyes widened, "What? Why?"
"Because you were asleep and it was getting late. You know it's almost one right?"
"WHAT?!" Namjoon shut the microwave door and stared at the lime green numbers that read 12:47.
"Don't worry, Jieun took it. We still haven't met them. So whatever you're hiding is still a secret." Jin left the kitchen.
Not liking what Jin was insinuating, Namjoon followed the otter hyrbid,
"Hyung, it's not what you think." he grabbed the Jin's hand and pulled him close. The wolf hybrid looked into the otter's eyes, searching for any kind of warmth.
"I don't know what to think, to be honest." Jin pulled away.
"Hyung please," Namjoon went after him, "I swear it's nothing bad. I just...I need time."
"You can take all the time you want, but I can't assure you that our bonds won't be broken by then," Jin said. Sure it sounded a little over dramatic, but the otter hybrid was so upset that he didn't care if he was being unreasonable. He wanted the wolf to see just how hurt he was.
Namjoon rubbed his face and exhaled. He reasoned with himself. His anxieties probably weren't as bad as he thought. He was probably overthinking it. Right? Right. Right? No one would judge him in the end right? Right. Why did he feel so nervous? It wasn't a big deal. Mates were forever, right? Right. Right, okay, he just had to do it. Like ripping off a band aid.
"Okay! Wait, I'll tell you guys about the wolf hybrids. It's time for a pack meeting."
Namjoon and Jin gathered everyone at the office for the wolf's special announcement. You, Hobi and Yoongi sat on the green, velvety couch while Jungkook sat on the floor, leaning back against your legs. Jin had seated himself at the desk chair, with his arms folded.
"Okay...the thing is..." Namjoon paced back and forth nervously, "These wolves...they're not just any hybrids. They're special to me."
"Special to you?" you asked while your heart dropped. Oh no, was thing going to be another Jungkook and Jieun thing? Although to be fair, nothing actually happened between the two.
"It's not as bad as it sounds," Namjoon quickly cut in. His fingers fiddled with themselves, "They're...they're my old pack."
"Your old pack?" Hobi repeated, "But I thought you didn't have a pack growing up."
"I didn't when I was a kid, but eventually I got one. I mean, I didn't look for them specifically, but we all kind of came together."
"Is that it?" Jin sat up, "You acted suspicious and distant because your old pack is in the clinic? That's—That's nothing. Why would you hide this from us?"
"I don't know...I got scared that you might...you guys might not want me in the pack." Namjoon looked down.
"That makes no sense at all." Yoongi pointed out as his eyes narrowed in suspicion. Namjoon was too smart to be worried about something so simple. But fears and anxieties didn't have to be complex. Maybe he was being too critical. The most important fact was that Namjoon wasn't secretly in love with some other group.
