Cami

I was laying in bed doing nothing like I did every weekend when my phone pinged.

Nico: u up?

Cami: yeah

Nico: Good. I'm taking you out for breakfast. I'll be there in a half hour to pick you up.

I jumped out of bed and into the shower when I read Nico's text. I only had a half hour to look presentable for him.

I took possibly the fastest shower of my life and blow dried my hair as quick as possible. I didn't think I needed to dress up too much so I wore a light blue crop top, jeans, and a sweater since it was getting colder out.

I had two minutes left so I swiped on some mascara and called it a day. I was breathing heavily when I reached the bottom of the stairs and took a minute to catch my breath before opening the door.

"Hi," I said a little breathlessly as I walked outside.

"Hi," Nico replied. He took my hand and led me to his car.

"I'm assuming you won't tell me where we're going," I said.

"Correct."

I settled into my seat and rested my head against the window. Clouds were moving in and the blue sky was getting taken over. It was still a nice day, but the next few days might not be.

Nico pulled into a parking lot and I perked up immediately.

"I love this place!" I exclaimed as I hopped out of the car.

"You've been here?" Nico asked and I nodded.

"We used to come here all the time when I was a kid. I always got hot chocolate and a vanilla scone. Bailey said my order was boring."

The bell on the door rang as Nico opened it. I walked in and all sorts of memories came rushing back. Hot chocolate dates with dad, sharing treats with my siblings, walks in the park with our drinks.

I shoved those memories aside as we walked up to the counter.

"What can I get you?" The girl at the register asked.

"Two hot chocolates and two vanilla scones please," Nico told her.

We waited at the counter for our order and then found a cozy booth to sit in.

"You're right," Nico said. "This is really good."

I giggled. "I'm glad you think so."

Nico and I talked as we ate and drank our hot chocolate and I had such a great time. I felt truly happy when I was around Nico. He brought out the happiness in me.

"Thank you," I said to Nico. And for so much more than hot chocolate.

"You're welcome," Nico replied and from the way he was looking at me, he knew it was more too.

We held hands again and went for a little walk before going back to the car. It was cold outside, but I didn't mind. I much preferred the cold to the heat.

After we walked for a while we came upon a little playground. No one was there so we went over and sat on the swings. I gently swayed and I knew Nico was watching me. Observing me. I turned to face him and he had a smile on his face.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing," he said with a shrug. "I'm just happy."

"Me too," I said and gave him a smile of my own.

We stayed on the swings for a while longer before going back to the car to get warm. The drive home was quiet, but not uncomfortable. I liked how I could just exist around Nico and feel content.

Nico walked me to the door and gave me a goodbye kiss. I really liked kissing Nico.

"Thank you for today," I said.

"Thank you for everyday," Nico replied and gave me a kiss on the forehead before going back to his car.

I, of course, blushed fiercely and I was smiling to myself as I walked into the house and up to my room. Today was a good day.
