Jisoo’s POV

"Who really are you, beautiful lady?" His voice was calm yet filled with an icy edge that sent chills down my spine. His dark, piercing eyes locked onto mine as he held me in place, his arms caging me effortlessly.

I swallowed hard, my mind racing. How could someone shift so quickly from playful to terrifying? Just moments ago, he’d been teasing and smirking, but now... his entire presence screamed danger.

"I’m asking you something, and you have to tell me," he continued, his tone low and menacing, like a predator cornering its prey.

My throat felt dry. I couldn’t speak, couldn’t even think clearly. What could I say?

When I didn’t respond, he scoffed, standing straight but never breaking eye contact. His intense glare burned through me, making my heart pound wildly in my chest.

"What were you planning by eavesdropping on us?" he demanded, his words like a whip cracking through the silence.

My breath hitched. He knew.

How? I’d been so careful. I was sure no one had seen me hiding behind the record room cupboard.

"What were you searching for in the military record room?" he asked again, his voice growing louder, more dangerous.

Shock flashed across my face. How much did he know?

Before I could recover, he leaned in closer, his face inches from mine. His gaze bore into me, dark and unyielding, and I felt like I was drowning under the weight of his intensity.

"SPEAK," he commanded, his voice sharp as a blade. He grabbed my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes. My heart raced as I searched for words, but my voice betrayed me.

"I... I am..." I stammered weakly, fear twisting in my stomach.

But what could I possibly say? Could I tell him the truth? That I was here under false pretenses, hiding my real identity to uncover the truth about my father?

Of course not.

"It's alright if you don’t want to tell me who you are," he said, his voice suddenly quieter but no less cold. "But know this: if I catch you doing anything suspicious, I won’t spare you."

His words hung in the air like a death sentence.

"This is my first and last warning," he continued, his tone dangerously calm. "Don’t think that saving my life buys you any leniency."

Before I could process his words, he yanked me up from the bed, the sudden movement catching me off guard. I stumbled but managed to steady myself, my heart hammering in my chest.

His cold gaze remained fixed on me, unrelenting.

"Beware of it," he warned, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade.

He gestured toward the door, silently commanding me to leave. My legs moved on their own, carrying me out of the room as quickly as possible.

I didn’t dare look back.

But even as I stepped into the hallway, his gaze felt like it was still on me, burning into my back like a mark I couldn’t erase.

For the first time in my life, I felt fear—not of death, not of torture, but of him. His gaze, his words, his very presence had shaken me to my core.

I bit my lip, my hands trembling slightly as I walked further away from his study.

I had thought I could handle him. That I could outsmart him, keep my secrets hidden.
