“I told you to be careful. I warned you…” The man’s voice echoed in the dark, empty room, his words full of menace. His eyes, full of cold calculation, stared at Sehun, waiting for a response.

Sehun, usually calm and composed, found himself irritated by the constant reprimands. “Hyung, I will not let that happen. He will never find out,” Sehun said defiantly, but his words were laced with a bitter undertone. He couldn’t afford to fail now—not when everything was hanging by a thread.

The room was suffocating, with only the dim light from a single candle flickering in the corner. These discussions, these secrets, always happened here—where they were free from prying eyes, hidden in the shadows of their own dark little world.

“Taehyung is sure that Jian was the scapegoat. He believes the one who orchestrated everything is either you or…” the man’s voice trailed off, but his piercing eyes locked onto Sehun's, expecting an answer.

“Min-seok,” Sehun interrupted, his tone mockingly casual, as if he had already anticipated the question. There was no fear in his voice, only a cold confidence that matched the man before him.

The older man’s lips curled into a sneer. “You... you’re planning something, aren’t you?” His words were more of a statement than a question, as if he already knew what Sehun was thinking. They communicated like this sometimes, without words, understanding each other on a level that seemed almost telepathic.

Sehun’s grin widened, a sense of amusement creeping into his features. He chuckled, the sound manic and unsettling, before suddenly falling silent. His posture stiffened, and he stood still as if nothing had just happened, his demeanor shifting in an instant.

The man narrowed his eyes, still wary. “You better not mess this up. I want his suspicion gone—soon. And if she still comes before your task... remember who gave you this life. Without me, you might have been begging on the streets for scraps.” His voice grew louder and more forceful, his words sharp as a blade.

Sehun was used to this by now—the harsh words, the constant threats. But today, something about it gnawed at him. He wasn’t angry at the man’s words. No, he was angry at what he had witnessed earlier. He had seen it with his own eyes.

The way she had been with Gunju… the way she smiled so freely, so shyly, when she was around him.

It wasn’t the Gunju he remembered—the man who was once just another target, a nuisance in the grand scheme of things. No, today was different. Today, Gunju had something Sehun couldn’t have, and it made his blood boil.

“Why... why…” Sehun roared, the frustration bubbling up inside him. His hands clenched into fists, and in a fit of rage, he slammed his hand against the stone wall. The pain shot through his fingers, but it did nothing to ease the storm brewing inside him. The physical hurt was nothing compared to the emotional turmoil he was feeling.

“Gunju, this time it’s the last time,” Sehun muttered, his voice low and threatening. His gaze was dark with fury, and there was a dangerous edge to his words. “I won’t spare you. Not for hyung, but for her.”

His mind raced with thoughts of what to do next. He had always been careful, but now the lines between duty and desire were beginning to blur. He could feel the weight of the decision ahead of him, and it wasn’t one he would take lightly.

Sehun knew one thing for sure: no matter what it took, he would keep her close. Even if it meant destroying everything and everyone in his path.
