Jisoo’s POV
The night sky was a masterpiece, with millions of shining stars twinkling, casting a gentle glow that perfectly complimented the lively festival around us. Tonight wasn’t just an ordinary night—it was the night of the Bamboo Festival. The whole town had come alive, and the air was filled with excitement. People had decorated the streets with intricate bamboo lanterns, art, and portraits, creating a beautiful, almost magical ambiance. The energy in the air was palpable, and the soft rustling of bamboo added a natural symphony to the scene.
The Bamboo Festival wasn’t just a time for celebration, but a tribute to the annual bamboo harvest. It was a night where crafts, arts, and traditions came to life, and one of the biggest attractions was the bamboo sword fight. The sight of warriors, young and old, challenging each other with skill and precision always drew a crowd, and this year, I was about to be part of that spectacle.
“Want to try?” I asked Taehyung, lifting an eyebrow playfully as I prepared myself for the sword competition. His smirk grew wider, more confident, and I could already tell he was enjoying this challenge more than I had expected.
"Get us swords," he called to the man running the game, his voice smooth and firm. It wasn’t long before we were handed our bamboo swords, and the crowd began to form a circle around us. Whispers and murmurs filled the air—everyone knew Gunju was renowned for his swordsmanship, but they hadn’t seen a lady challenge him before.
As we stood facing each other, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of confidence. He was a formidable opponent, but I had trained hard. Martial arts had always been a part of my life, and my master had taught me well. It wasn’t just about strength—it was about precision, control, and the will to push through.
“What if I win?” I asked, my voice tinged with challenge.
Taehyung’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “I’ll give you whatever you want,” he said, his seductive smirk never fading as he shifted his stance, preparing for the match.
I raised an eyebrow. “You’ll have to give me something if I win, too.”
He didn’t hesitate. “I will.” His voice was full of certainty, and that only made me more determined.
We took our positions, swords raised, and the first move was mine. With a swift motion, I slashed my sword towards him, the bamboo clashing with his in a sharp creak. His eyes lit up with amusement. "Very good," he said, a smirk tugging at his lips.
That’s when I knew I had his attention. I had to keep pushing, keep challenging him.
The crowd around us was growing, and their energy only spurred me on. I wasn’t just fighting for myself, but to prove I could hold my own. The sword play was a dance—an exchange of power, skill, and strategy. My sword moved faster and more fiercely, each strike more powerful than the last.
But Taehyung wasn’t backing down. His moves were precise, calculated, and though he was clearly stronger, I kept up, using my speed and agility to land a few solid blows. There were moments when I could feel my arms growing tired, the fight pushing me to my limits. But then, I remembered my training and pushed harder.
Taehyung’s smirk had faded into a look of concentration, and I could tell that he wasn’t just going easy on me anymore. He was giving it everything he had, and it made my heart race.
I knew that, despite his strength, I had a chance to win this. My master had always said that martial arts were as much about the mind as they were about the body. And in that moment, my mind was sharp—focused.
