Y/N POV:
"Dude, where did you guys go? You haven't been at school in days!" Ned asked as we all walked to our first period together.
Midtown the second time around wasn't nearly as scary. I still had the same schedule as before: same as Peter's.
"We uh..."
"We both got...sick," I lied.
"Oh man, that sucks. OH! Peter there's Liz," Ned whispered, pointing towards the end of the hall. We watched as a group of girls walked by.
"Who's Liz?" I asked.
"An insanely gorgeous junior that Peter's in love with."
"Dude I'm not in love with her," Peter said, shoving Ned lightly. My heart sank a little.
A junior?
Peter glanced my way but I looked towards the ground.
"Are you gonna ask her to homecoming?"
"What?! No Ned. I don't like her anymore," Peter insisted, then turned to reach for my hand. I let him hold it. His hand was warm and soft and caused me to relax a little.
"Oh. Does that mean I can't like her?"
"Knock yourself out buddy," Peter said patting him on the back.
Ned's attention quickly turned to his phone as he got a loud notification.
"OH MY GOSH! You guys won't believe it! Peter do you remember that video we saw a few weeks ago of that car wreck?"
"Y-yeah? The one with the blue light coming from the car?"
"THATS THE ONE! Okay, Y/N you've seen this video right? It was everywhere!" Ned said, turning his phone to me.
My eyes widened.
It was me.
It was the accident.
The one that started all of this.
"-u-uh—yeah yeah I've seen that one," I said, trying not to throw up. Peter noticed and squeezed my hand.
"This article from the New York Times says 'this unexplainable phenomenon has resurfaced, this time in Mill Neck. This same blue force appeared in an abandoned hospital amongst the Avengers and...SPIDER-MAN???" Ned read aloud. Peter and I went silent. Ned was too distracted to notice our panicked looks.
"Dude! I think the Avengers have a new member! They're calling her 'Blue Force'. Does that mean Spider-Man is an Avenger too?!" he said excitedly. He finally noticed our lack of movement and looked up from his phone.
"No way! That's probably just some news scam. You really should stop subscribing to these articles," Peter said.
"You think they could fake that!" he said, showing us a clip of us fighting at the hospital. The quality was so shit you couldn't see my face thank god.
"Yeah, probably. I've taken some film editing classes and this is entry level CGI," I lied.
"I guess we'll wait and see then. This article is already trending on Twitter," he said, browsing his phone some more.
Fuck.
I jumped as my phone started to ring. Tony's number was displayed when I saw the screen.
Fuck.
"I gotta take this, one sec," I said, breaking off from the two and walking out a door where no one could hear.
"Hey-"
"I'm having Happy pick you up. You've been compromised," he said quickly.
"Tony the article doesn't even have my name or my face, it's fine," I said, honestly trying to convince myself more than him.
"Fine? FINE? You think this is fine?! You have been spotted using your powers TWICE and people are starting to investigate who you are," he said frustrated.
"I know it's bad, but I haven't used my powers since that day. As long as I don't use them again in public, how will anyone know it's me?"
"See that's just the thing: that last time? You WERE in private. We were in a remote location in a covered building, and someone still saw and recorded you. We need to erase this 'blue force' person before people realize it's you," he said.
"What does that mean?"
"It means, kid, that you can't use your powers or be seen with any members of the Avengers."
"What about you? And Peter?"
"People have seen you with me. Too many people. I need to figure the details out. Just finish the day and come straight home. When Happy comes to pick you up he will have a disguise for you," he said. I sighed.
"As for Peter, I'll deal with that later. It's not as urgent."
"Alright. And I'm...sorry about all this," I apologized.
"You didn't do anything wrong kid. Don't worry, okay? Talk later," he said, hanging up.
I walked back towards my first class when I saw Peter waiting for me outside. As I rounded the corner his eyes lit up and he opened the door for us.
"Was that Mr. Stark?" he whispered, as we walked to our seats.
"Yep. I'm gonna wear a disguise going home," I said with mild excitement.
"Oh man, it's that serious? No one could even see your face," he said, worried.
"It's just a precaution. I'm not worried," I said reassuring him.
I really wasn't. People could speculate all they wanted, but they couldn't link me to this Blue Force person.
That's a shit name anyway.
"But hey, everyone thinks you're an Avenger. That's pretty cool," I said, nudging my elbow with his. He smiled and glanced his attention forward.
I did the same.
