2nd pov
The following day was your free skate. Yurio's silence still concerned you. You had tried starting up a conversation several times, but he had not responded.
As you started your warm up all you could think about was him. Maybe it wasn't the best choice to make the song about him after all.
After missing a jump, Victor yelled at you from behind the barrier to shake it off. You hadn't told him what was going on, but you could sense he had noticed something was wrong.
Time skip
"Good warm up." Victor lied as you sulked off the ice. You had around an hour to shred before your performance, so you decided to roam the halls. Victor was more lenient with you when it came to pre-competition. You stretched in an empty roam while the announcer introduced the second girl.
Bianca Romano was up. She was a Italian seventeen year old girl you had faced before, and won against of course.
As you made your way back to the arena, you heard you phone buzz. Your heart skipped a few beats when you read who it was from. Yurio had finally responded. Reading the words though crumpled all joy.
"Leave me alone you fat pig." showed across the screen. What did he mean? The last text message he responded to was when you guys were laughing about cats. What had changed since then?
The fat comment also felt a bit harsh. He knew about your eating disorders and still made that comment. You continued walking, but tears started to well in your eyes. You weren't sure were his attitude came from, had you done something wrong?
The tears had already began to pour down when you faced Victor. He looked concerned.
"Would you like to ask for a different time?" he questioned as he held a cloth to wipe your tears.
"No, it's fine." you said snot nosed as you tied on your white skates. The announcer started introducing you. Quickly you wiped away as many tears as you could and skated onto the ice.
Waiting for the song to play felt like the longest thirty seconds in the world. You wanted to sob, but you didn't allow yourself to, not in front of all these people. Despite your attempts to hold it in, a few tears escaped your eyes.
Then finally the song started. It felt different though, there was no love behind it.
The tears started blurring your vision, causing you to miss part of a step sequence and over rotate on your double axel. This felt like your messiest performance by far. You just wanted it to be over. Each moment the song played there was a painful reminder of him. The boy you loved, except he hated you. When the song finally came to an end, you left the ice defeated.
Even Victor couldn't hide his grimace when you skated off the ice to meet him and Yuri.
"Great job." Yuri applauded. For the first time you weren't facing the crowd, you let out the largest sob. Quickly Victor picked you up in a hug and carried you into another room where the crowd couldn't watch.
"What's wrong my little princess." Victor combed through your hair.
"Y-Yurio." you sniffed. Victor smiled.
"Yeah, he can be a dumb idiot sometimes." You we're about to say something else when the announcer started talking.
"With a score of 87.21 on her short program and 126.34 on her free program, Y/n is currently in second place behind Romano." he shared. You were shocked you even did that good. The entire song seemed to fall apart, and your short program didn't go very well either.
In the end you took third place. Although you would have preferred a high spot, you were still getting moved on, so you tried not to fuss. Except Russia would be next, and Yurio would be there too.
