The next day, I had woken up. It was finally the weekend. I was so exhausted from school that week. The weather hadn't been fun and I had barely gotten any sleep as I still had night terrors of the horrific murders of my mother and father a couple of years ago.
It was already 11am when I got out of bed to take a shower.
When I walked down the stairs, my mother was in the kitchen reading her newspaper.
"Good morning sleepy head." She jokingly said, walking around the kitchen counter to give me a kiss on the cheek. "Anything planned for today?"
I took a seat and poured myself a cup of the freshly made orange juice she made for the family every Saturday. We had many orange trees in our backyard that produced juicy, plump, tender, moist oranges.
While drinking the orange juice, I looked out of the kitchen window and realized that it was extremely bright outside.
I put my cup down and walked around the kitchen counter, shoving my mother to the side as I walked to the front door.
When I opened it, I was surprised to see that the sun was out and that it was extremely warm. The news said there'd be nothing but rain, yet here we were.
I bent down to pick up the newspaper on the welcome mat, and when I stood back up, Jemantha was standing right in front of me.
"Hello best friend!" She said, pulling me in for a tight hug.
I was extremely shocked to see her there, let alone that she hugged me.
Jemantha had her dark blonde hair tied up in piggy tails and was wearing a tight white singlet under some denim short short. I on the other hand had my damp brown hair tied up in a messy bun, and wore dark blue boy shorts and a loose light blue sweater.
"Jemantha!" I exclaimed, pulling back from her. "What are you doing here so early in the morning on the weekend? How did you know where I lived?"
She giggled and lightly slapped my right hand shoulder.
"It's 2pm silly. Now get yourself ready, we're going to the beach!" Jemantha said in her high southern accent, and stepped past me into my home.
I ran upstairs, leaving her in the kitchen with my mother to get myself ready to go to the beach with my new friend Jemantha. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to do something fun with someone else, instead of going to the cemetery to visit my parents' graves.
Quickly changing in to something better suited for the weather- some three quarter length grey shorts and a brown t-shirt with Goomba on it. Underneath I was wearing a sexy red two piece bikini.
I ran downstairs to see my mother and Jemantha still talking. This must've been the second or third time they'd ever met before.
"Young lady, I want you home by the time the clock strikes twelve." My mom said in a serious tone, pinching the side of my shirt.
"Whatever mom. I'll be home when I want." I said, rolling my eyes and walking past her with Jemantha.
After a 30 minute drive and stop at Starbucks, Jemantha and I had reached the local beach. It wasn't too crowded or polluted and the weather was perfect for it.
Jemantha and I wanted to take a walk around the beach before getting in the water.
There was a beautiful large rock on one side of the beach. It extended several meters up and out of the water, like a diving board or cliff off into the sea.
While Jemantha set up her umbrella, I dropped my beach bag on the sand and started running up towards the large rock, eager to see the view from it.
As I got to the rock, I began climbing up carefully, using previously left dents and cracks to work my way up.
It was only maybe 5 meters up and out, so the pointiest ledge was only 5 meters above the water, but the ocean floor deepened.
I stood up at the highest point, looking out to the water in front. All you could see was some buildings off to the side continuing of the coast, but right in front was just water.
The bright sun was still shining. It was the perfect time to have a quick tan.
I turned around to my left to see Jemantha setting up our corner. She looked up at me and smiled.
When I turned to look on my right, to the other side of the beach, I saw a volleyball game being played.
There must have been maybe 10 other people in total in a serious game of volleyball. The net was set up, and if I listened hard enough, I could hear their radio playing.
They weren't too far away from me or Jemantha, we must've missed seeing them earlier.
I pointed out to them and Jemantha noticed them too.
Putting the sunglasses up on my head, I took more attention to the volleyball game.
I noticed that the 10 people were all men, many of which were shirtless.
They must have been professionals, because they played so well.
I was so captivated by the game. At some point, I managed to identify one of the men with short platinum blonde hair in a white tank top as Laiden, the football captain. His tattoos snuck out of his shirt, it was definitely him.
There was also another boy wearing a dark green t-shirt who had bright red hair. It must've been Jonald.
Jonald and Laiden were playing on the same team, and were playing really well, but from what I had seen the other team was still managing to win.
As I looked at the other team, I managed to see that the shirtless player serving was none other than Graythan!
He was shirtless, revealing his sculpted figure. His arms were toned and muscular, yet not too prominent. His stomach was flat, clearly revealing his abs. He was also wearing bright red shorts.
"Graythan!" I gasped under my breath, catching myself off guard.
Across the beach, Graythan looked back at me, as if he had just noticed I was there.
Though we weren't close, I could recognise each feature on his face. If I didn't know better he was staring into my eyes, and knew it was me.
A cold breeze brushed past. Graythan had his eyes on me for a few seconds, before he was thrown the volleyball to serve.
I watched him move into position to the corner of the court. He threw the ball high up in the air and then jumped, before powerfully punching it off across the net to the other team.
Laiden matched the power and hit the volleyball back to Graythan, who managed to control the ball so that when he hit it back, it barely slid over the net.
Jonald and Laiden both dove to save the ball from hitting the sand, but they were too late.
It was an amazing play and I couldn't help but start clapping.
Graythan looked extremely pleased with himself and had a huge grin on his face.
He looked incredibly handsome. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and glimmered in the sun.
All of a sudden, his eyes shot to me, still standing on the rock ledge, clapping. I was so happy to see him happy. I wished that I made him happy. I wished he looked at me that way all the time.
And then I fell.
