We drive home in complete silence. It was only about 4pm. The sun was still out, it definitely wasn't as warm as earlier, but still great weather.

When Graythan pulls into my driveway, I can already feel something off about my home.

The huge wooden front door was kept open. I had definitely closed it when I left earlier, and mom was home. I brushed it off, thinking that maybe my mom or dad went to the side of the house to work on the garden.

Graythan comes around to my side of his car, and opens the door for me like a perfect gentleman. I take his hand and he pulls and guides me out.

We walk to my house, hand in hand, and when we enter through the open front door, my older brother Hercules is pacing in the front entry way.

When he sees me he yells "Mom! Dad! She's home!"

I look to my side at Graythan, puzzled at what's going on.

"Where have you been young lady?!" My mom yells at me. "Do you have any idea how sick and worried we were about you?!"

"Marybethbethbeth, you should've told us where you were." My dad says softly yet I can hear his disappointment. "You can't just leave and not tell anyone where you're going."

"But dad- I told mom where I was going. She said goodbye to me and spoke to Jemantha when she picked me up. She even told me to be home by midnight." I responded, defending myself.

My dad looked shocked, and when he looked to the side where my mom had her arms crossed, my mom's angry face softened.

"Oh. Yeah you're right. I did see you a couple hours ago and spoke to your friend Jemantha. Sweet girl." My mom admitted with a smile.

She then turned around and ran upstairs. My father followed close behind her.

Graythan and I had a bit of a giggle, but my brother Hercules tapped his foot in front of us.

"I can't believe you're hanging out with this... thing." He started. "Do you have any idea what he's done to this family? The pain he's put us through?"

"What are you talking about?" I innocently asked.

"Marybethbethbeth are you an idiot? You're hanging out with the enemy. He's a murderer." Hercules says, pointing at Graythan.

Graythan squeezes my hand. I don't know what Hercules means.

"Do you remember that night when our parents were murdered? By all those vampires?" Hercules asks, his hand on his forehead.

"Of course I remember that night! It haunts me every single day." I yell back at him.

"Well then obviously it doesn't matter enough to you if you're hanging out with him." Hercules puts his hands on his hips and walks in between me and Graythan out the front door.

I turn to look at Graythan, tears forming in my eyes. He looks at me, tears forming in his eyes.

"Marybethbethbeth... I'm so sorry. I had no idea that I had any part in the gruesome murders of your parents." Graythan cries. "Unfortunately, my kind do dumb things sometimes without thinking of the consequences."

I slowly shake my head, trying to stop the tears from escaping my eyes.

"Your kind?" I ask, inquisitively. "What are you?" Graythan takes a deep breath. "Say it. Out loud. I demand."

Before Graythan can say another word, Jonald and Jemantha run in through my front door.

"Graythan! Don't you dare tell her what we are." Jonald yells in a voice that wasn't his.

Jemantha stood beside me, hugging my arm to comfort me as some tears snuck out of my eyes. Jonald stood beside Graythan in front of us.

I had one eye on Graythan and one eye on Jonald. I didn't understand what was happening. Graythan, Jonald and Jemantha started speaking all at once. I couldn't understand what they were saying.

"What are you?" I let out quiety.

Graythan, Jonald and Jemantha all seemed to hear me over all their yelling and arguing, and stopped to look at me.

Graythan took a step forward to me. I took a step back.

"I'm a vampire." Graythan admitted. "I'm so sorry Marybethbethbeth I-"

"Get out. All of you." I cry before I run upstairs away from them.

A minute later I hear my front door slam close and I feel like I can breathe again.

I start crying. I cry like I have never cried before. My eyes leaked for several days. My mom came to my room to give me food and try to console me, but how can you console someone who just found out that their new best friend was a vampire who was involved in their parents murder? Even my mom couldn't help me.
