Not being able to read her mind turned out to be a gift he beleived, he had to look at her while they had sex to please her and learn what her body enjoyed most. It was a refreshing change of pace to have to actually explore his partner's body to find their sweet spots. Not that any of his partners had ever complained, who would when their inner kink monologue is actually being heard and in most cases catered to just to, just to enjoy a novel experience if nothing else.
Falling back onto the pillows, feeling spent and enchanted by Laurel, he started to think which century or key words he should start his search through his journals with. He was for the first time glad he had carted the stupid things with him, had kept them over the long centuries. He had certainly been thrilled when computers and data storage became much easier to store, search through and enjoy.
"Well that is a much better way to wake up than I am used to" she said, gazing at him, looking like a lazy house cat basking in sunshine.
He smiled, reassured that she must have also had a good time and wasn't feeling regrets. "I woke up earlier, and ordered some breakfast delivered. It should be here any minute now" He smirked at her, delighting in how normal waking up with her felt for him. Perfectly timed, there was a quick series of knocks on the door, signaling the food had arrived.
Later that afternoon, after a full breakfast from a diner down the road and several more rounds of fun later, Damon made his way home. As soon as he arrived at his own penthouse, he took out his phone to call Delia, he wanted to compare each other's notes on Laurel. While the phone rang, he went to his office to start searching through his own personal records.
"Hello Damon, did you have a fun evening?" Delia answered her phone, not being subtle as she giggled at him.
"I did indeed have a rather entertaining evening, what do you know about her Delia?"
"Hmmmm not very much, but probably more than that expensive PI you got will be able to find unless she knows more about magic I'm not aware of"
"What do you want in exchange this time Delia?" the cash was the easiest portion of the price he would pay, Delia could get creative with the favors she requested.
"I would like our regular fee, and I want Laurel to be happy, I can't feel much from her but what I get is either sad or horny and no one should have to live that way" He agreed easily, her terms were more than reasonable. Especially since he already had plans to try and improve Laurel's life any way he could. He immediately sent the funds to Delia and could hear the notification come through on her end.
"That was the cash, and I want to assure you, I already planned to try and do everything I could to make Laurel happy after last night" Delia couldn't get any read off him at the best of times, let alone over the phone, but she was always unreasonably clever at ferreting out lies from anyone, human or not. So he knew she would be able to tell he was sincere. "Now tell me what you know please, She feels like something I have felt before but I can't place it"
"She likely is as old as her ID says she is, she doesn't feel like how a timeless creature gets, but I'm uncertain on if she is a special human or even what the alternative options could be. I know her mother is not her biological mother. There was a car crash when she was a toddler, she was miraculously thrown from the vehicle unharmed but her entire family was killed. She was adopted by a single mother who doesn't seem to like her very much, but that might be new.
There is a spell on her where once she is out of sight of people for too long it's like she never existed. Her adoptive mother is probably struggling to remember her right now or has already forgotten her entirely. Which I think must be hitting Laurel rather hard, she has felt more lonely lately. Oh and the out of sight out of mind spell and probably others have been there for a while. I don't think she knows about magic or about the various creatures that go bump in the night around here, so she also probably doesn't have a clue what she is. "
