Rowan was not Rowan anymore, he'd realized.
It had felt like it'd been 4 months, maybe 5?
He had a new body, new mindset, new purpose in life. He wasn't a human anymore, and he hadn't come to realize that. In fact, he didn't know what he even was. He felt... Different. The urges, the reactions, the instincts... Rowan couldn't control his ideas anymore. His body made every little decision, and his job was just to monitor, glaring every which way to peer out for dangers. He was pretty confused. Rowan had remembered every last detail on his past life. That wasn't normal.
Reincarnation was supposed to be wiping his memory away, correct? Yet, he could remember things from how to make a hamburger, to how he had seasoned his chicken.
He felt as if he was an animal, though he wasn't sure at all which animal he was. When he'd tried to speak, all he had let out as "communication" was yips and squeals. He couldn't talk, and that was a fact. He'd felt like crying. He felt hopeless. Defeated. His fate must have hated his guts, he thought.
This went on for a long time.
After far too long of a while, he'd decided to accept his fate. It still would be nice to know which animal he was, but he'd gotten over that partly. Now, all he was concerned on was how animals like him possibly had survived. This body was a lot to get used to, and he could hardly balance. After a bit, he did get used to balancing, but now the real question was how he could eat, sleep, urinate, so on and so forth.
Rowan just wanted to acknowledge normal things.
He didn't even know if he was a male or female animal.
Wait.
Only one way to find out...
Rowan peered down there.
What sounded unfamiliar to him felt pretty normal to his body. He let out small yaps and soft whimpering.I AM A FEMALE?
He was not as acceptant of this as he had been of other things. How could he survive? He felt as if every little bit of hope he'd had left was now disappearing. He now wanted nothing to do with this life or animal body.
Rowan got ready, very slowly creeping up to the roadside, cars zooming by as tiny debris whacked him, such as rubber from tire and grass from the bottom of the wheels.
He slowly waddled into the long, scary road, filled with brassy vehicles pounding nearby, not to mention, potholes he could easily slide into if he hadn't been careful.
He then helplessly glared up at a gigantic automobile, dashing up to him speedily as ever. He wasn't able to squabble around anymore, with his tiny, stick-like animal legs, and he let out a small whimper. He was completely hopeless, what was Rowan supposed to do?
He whined there helplessly as the vehicle caught up to him.
