Rowan immediately awoke the next morning, due to hearing infants sobbing at parks nearby and dogs yapping at each other from across the street.

Why do dogs have such tiny brains?
Oh wait, nevermind.
He thought to himself.

Rowan got up, stretching his legs outward with a yawn. His sniffer filled up with scents, really good scents. He recognized these smells from his human life. He could detect exactly where they're located, and what exactly kind of smells they are. He smelled chicken, steak, pancakes, coffee, chlorine (probably from the pools in people's pools, it's a nice day today), and... BACON! Rowan loved bacon, in his human life a lot, but even more so in his canine life, if that was even possible.

He'd started his day off by greeting a couple of strays at a nearby water-park, sniffing their behinds and snatching a biscuit or two that the owner had thrown without realizing it was out of the chained dogs leashes.

He then proceeded to visit restaurants, so many restaurants! He loved the scents, and the food, he could tell, was mighty tasty. If only he could get his hands- or, paws- on one of those appetizing treats. He tried to plead for whatever spare leftovers the chefs of the food joints had, but they made it clear they just wanted the "mangy mutt" to beat it.

Rowan didn't give up, though. He searched every trash can he could find, only to snack on a stale sushi dish. He wasn't feeling well after consuming that, but he thought that maybe it was the aftertaste. Besides, he'd never been fond of snacking on fish in his human life.

People would often stare at Rowan while they walked alongside the sidewalks, or drove around in their vehicles. Being the skittish pup he was, Rowan would automatically skitter away if you even attempted to approach him, no matter how friendly you seemed.

He liked this life much more than in that prison. Rowan wasn't much fond of street living, but he did much prefer this over that shelter.

However, Rita was furious.
