Something clanging in the kitchen woke you up. You slowly blinked at the sunlight filtering into the living room. Then your head was pounding. Ugh, why is it doing that? You flinched as it did again and you just kind of laid there, trying to process what happened. Exactly, what happened last night?
"You're up! Good morning Y/N!" A cheery and familiar voice called out. Huh? You sat up quickly, ignoring the small pain that occurred and found it was Hoseok. This had to be a dream, right? Wait, maybe it wasn't since this apartment wasn't yours and Jimin was peacefully sleeping on a chair.
"What happened?" You asked.
Hoseok chuckled a bit. "It looks like you got a little drunk last night. Jimin and I tried to take you back to your apartment but you wouldn't tell us. I think your roommate Hae would be angry at us."
Did you talk about Hae?! What did you do?! Ugh and why did this drunk make you spill things?! Oh no, you had better not tell him you're a mermaid! "Oh, haha." You awkwardly chuckled, nervously sweating.
"I made some hangover soup. Come eat." He gestured for you to come into the small kitchen. Then he looked at Jimin. "Oh, I forgot about him." Hoseok started shaking Jimin awake.
Poor Jimin blinked sleepily and was processing what was going on. "Is it morning already?"
"Yeah, c'mon." Hoseok then left and you immediately followed. You sat down at the table and Hoseok placed a bowl in front of you. It took Jimin a minute to get to the kitchen and gratefully accepted the bowl as he passed by Hoseok.
"You make the best food, hyung." Jimin smiled.
Hoseok huffed. "Yeah because you burn everything you touch in the kitchen." He finally took a seat with you guys.
"No, that's Namjoon." Jimin replied without missing a beat.
"Oh yeah." Hoseok nodded. "But you're also not allowed."
You enjoyed their little banter and you took a bite of the food he made. Jimin was not lying when he was a good cook! "Mm, this is really good!"
"Thanks." Hoseok smiled. "This is one of the few things I'm good at."
"Yeah, cause you got drunk most of the time in college." Jimin mumbled through his food.
Hoseok then turned to Jimin with a glare. "You're also banned from talking to me now."
You simply enjoyed this conversation as Jimin gasped then pleaded for forgiveness. All your life, you simply lived your life in the ocean but you're glad that you worked up the courage to get here onto land. You wouldn't have met them.
"Thanks again!" You said to Hoseok who walked you and Jimin to the door.
"No problem!" Hoseok smiled. "See you at work!"
You waved and happily went down the stairs with Jimin. Then you parted ways with Jimin and rushed to your apartment. You need to find out what drunk exactly is and get ready for work! You forgot that you agreed to take the earlier shift!
While rushing to your apartment, you bumped into someone. "Oh sorry-" You started to apologize and then recognized the person. "Oh hi Ae Ri! Sorry about that!" You helped pick up the bag she had dropped.
Ae Ri took the bag from you without another word, just staring at you. "Why are you in a rush?"
"I need to get to work." You replied.
She narrowed her gaze at you. "The flower shop is in the other direction. Where were you last night?"
A bit confused, you explained what happened last night. As soon as you finished telling your story, Ae Ri looked a bit upset. You weren't sure why but remember that you were still running late. "I'm sorry but I have to get to work." Then you rushed off.
Ae Ri watched you go with a glare on her face. "Innocent huh? Y/N knows exactly what they're doing." Once more, the green monster residing in her came out. She huffed and turned around, not being able to contain her jealousy.
"I'm so sorry I'm late!" You rushed into the flower shop, a bit out of breath. At the least in the ocean, the waves could carry you sometimes but here on land it was a lot more difficult. Especially since you took the stairs since the elevator was taking too long!
Ms Wang immediately set her sights on you and for once you were a bit afraid. She had a look on her face that you couldn't describe but then the same friendly smile appeared on her face. "Oh don't worry about it, honey!" She waved it off and you relaxed a little. "It's totally okay since you're still getting used to your job huh?"
You awkwardly smiled and came closer to the counter. "I'm sorry again," You apologized. "I promise I won't do it again."
Ms Wang waved you off once more. "Don't worry. The mornings are a bit slow anyways and you're such a hard worker that I don't mind."
Thankfully she wasn't mad and you continued working at the shop like any normal day. This time, you were able to handle everything. After watching Hoseok like a hawk, you learned how to do everything and sure, you made some minor mistakes but you always corrected them. As you continued working, the interaction from this morning popped into your head. Why did Jisoo look upset?
As you were watering the flowers outside, it finally clicked into your mind. She must have been upset that you were at Hoseok's apartment last night! Ugh, you tried remembering why that could be considered bad. Hae also left a notebook of some social actions and issues of what could be considered... and you didn't even get to look up what drunk means! Now this was going to bug you the whole day.
Throughout the day, it was okay. Nothing special happened until Hoseok came in for his shift. Happily, you greeted him as he came in. "How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I'm okay! Sorry for getting drunk last night." You apologized since you hardly remember anything and you're still not sure what drunk could mean. "It was my first time trying that." Your brain stumbled on the word again. Was it... alcohol? Cohol? Lcohol?
"Oh, it was your first time drinking?" Hoseok asked in surprise.
Drinking? It's not that word? Ugh, you need to study again. "Yeah it was." You sheepishly smiled. "But it was kind of nice!" You immediately responded.
Hoseok chuckled. "Next time, just take less, okay?" You nodded happily. You still have a lot to learn about the human world. Even with things like this, you're still enjoying far, much better than the ocean!
