"Amruta, be aware of the boys. They're cunning and will take advantage of you when you let your guard down" - Sejal di's words rang in my mind.
"Ufff," I let out a breath of relief as I finally reached my destination - FUTURE ANGELS MULTIPURPOSE SCHOOL AND JR. COLLEGE, VASHI. The white and blue uniforms stood out from the peach and red colors of the walls of the building. I noticed some boys staring at me as I adjusted my unusually tight uniform.
I walked into the campus, trying my best to avoid the gazes of the people around me.
They love you, don't they?
"Shut up," I muttered as I neared the noticeboard. I searched for my name as I ran my hands through the list of admitted students for F.Y.J.C., the fancy name for 11th std.
"11th-B S4 block. Aha!," I said as I made my way to the second floor.
Did you notice how many marks did the first person admitted here score?
"Na, I didn't see it. Probably, 97% 98%?" I said as I stood outside the S4 block. "Anyways I don't care. Here we go, new place, new people, new problems. Ufff," I groaned as I stepped in.
But as soon as I did, everyone turned towards me. I quietly walked up to the first bench and returned to adjust to my new awkward surroundings. Boys and girls making groups and talking among themselves and here I was - whining about my social skills. I noticed a group of girls staring at me as they were gossiping about something. Ufff!
Enjoying being the center of attraction?
"Just shut up," I complained as I crossed my arms across my desk and put my head against them. Why is this happening only to me? Why can't I be normal?
"This girl is ruining our family. If something happens to Sejal because of her, I'll never forgive you and your daughter," I recalled Mom's words that I had overheard last week. They had an argument because of me - I had...
That's when I felt someone's hand over my shoulder. I shivered due to the sudden touch and turned back to see a tall, well-built boy. He had dark green eyes that were scanning me from top to bottom. "Hey babe, what's your name ?" he asked.
I soon realized that I had got lost in his eyes. It took me a while to come to my senses.
Well, isn't he hot? Huh?
"Yess, I mean my name's Amruta Gaikwad," I said. "And who are you? I mean what's your name ?"
"Kshitij Patel, 84% from Saint Xavier's," he pulled out his hand. "And you are from ?"
Checkmate. What are you going to do now?
"Umm... I gave boards from outside. I had problems..," I lowered my head to avoid his gaze.
"Ohh I can understand," he said.Huh! He's lying. He's filled with disgust. He thinks you had failed and had to repeat.
"Beautiful girls do have problems in studying-"
"I had got 96% by the way," I said as I turned around again. The class had filled up by now. I noticed that the girls had started gossiping about me. The boys on the other hand tried to sit beside me.
Na, not this one. He's too ego-ish.
"No thank you, I prefer to sit alone," I told Prashant who had asked for the seat next to me, he nodded his head and returned to his original seat.
That's when another boy asked for a seat. I was going to shoo him away too but that's when I noticed something. There was a powerful aura around him. Something bluish - how could anyone not notice that ?!
"Can I have the seat ?" he asked firmly.
*Gulp*
"Yes... I guess," I was taken aback by the reaction. He put his bag in between us and sat beside me with his right leg outside the desk area and his hand resting on his thigh. He looked as if he was in some fighting position.
Maybe he's just trying to be at an appropriate distance from you?
Maybe. I didn't know.
That's when some middle-aged woman wearing a yellow ochre kurta salwar entered the class. She had an unusual authoritative look on her face as she started addressing the class - "Please take your seats. I'm your class teacher Elizabeth and we shall now start with the orientation session."
By now I realized how quiet the surroundings had become since she entered the class. I took a quick glance at the person sitting next to me - I couldn't see the blue aura anymore.
"Ahem ahem. Please turn your attention to me. You now are the students of Future Angels, Vashi. Here we don't make students, but future citizens of India..."
She continued her speech for another half an hour. I decided to take another glance at the boy next to me. There he was with a blue aura again. I looked around again - how could no one else see that?
"Miss Amruta! Where is your attention ?!," Elizabeth miss shouted all of a sudden.
"Huh ?! Uh yeah... I'm sorry," I quickly stood up and apologized."Is something very important that you wish to discuss with Vedant right here? Something more important than my session ?" she interrogated.
"No no. I wasn't staring at Vedant," I blurted out but regretted it instantly. Elizabeth let out a gentle laugh and ordered me to get out of the class.
I expected that guy Vedant to say something in my defense. But there he was - sitting with that mysterious look on his face as if he was unaware of the situation I was in.
What's with that attitude, dude?
I walked out of the class furiously. It was his fault. It was all his fault. Why did he act so mysterious and fancy? Why did he have that blue aura?
It isn't his fault.
Huh? How? - I questioned myself as I stood across the railing outside the classroom. I couldn't see his blue aura anymore.
Remember I asked you if you saw the marks of the person who got admitted here...
Yeah, what about that?
It was 100%. And that person is him. Vedant.
Uh okay. I personally don't care about the marks much. I'm more concerned about the aura around him though.
I don't know what it is. But I do know one thing - that guy is strong. Much more than he appears to be. Better approach him if you want him on our side.
Looks like someone has a crush already.
"Amruta, be aware of the boys. They're cunning and will take advantage of you when you let your guard down" - Sejal di's words rang in my mind again.
Ufff!
