"We need to talk," Karan's voice came. Karan lay on his huge king-size bed, his hand bent below his head and his head resting on it. He was awake all the while so was Tejasswi. Tejasswi twisted her petite figure towards him from the couch beside the dressing table. She pulled the blanket to her neck.

"Can't it wait for tomorrow?" she mumbled aloud. Karan took a sharp inhale audible enough to  Tejasswi to hear.

"It's important," he turned to face her. They were facing each other diagonally, hurting their necks. Tejasswi decided to do the favour as she got up and back against the arm of the couch.

"Rules," he mentioned and Tejasswi rolled her eyes. She stretched out and pulled the string switch. Her face glowed up in the florescent colour of the lamp. Her plain white band tee and funky pyjamas gleamed too. Karan's eyes fixed on her as she pulled her hair and knotted it.

He balled his fist under his thigh as they itched to pull them back down. He didn't know why but he wanted to ask her to not tie her hair up. He blew hair trying to calm the inner storm in him.

"Rules. Bring it on," Tejasswi uttered as she folded her leg over the other in a criss-cross.

"No.1 We will only co-parent Syra and nothing more. No romantic, no platonic relationship. I'll mind own business and you, yours. I won't interfere and you won't. My mother would insist upon us doing rituals and customs, we'll do it but it's just for the show," Karan said. Tejasswi nodded.

"No.2 I don't mind you working outside but I want you do be there for Syra when she needs you. I see that you both haven't had a proper conversation, but that's not my business. You guys work on it or not, is your call but make sure you don't disappoint my princess. She's the reason why I'm tolerating you. Adding to it, we'll be good and caring parents for her. We'll do her PTA meetings, her felicitation ceremonies together, but just for the show," Karan breathed hard as he told it in a one breath. Tejasswi imitated the was he said just for the show in her head. It annoyed her.

"Okay, breath,"Tejasswi muttered unsure of if she should say something or not. Karan huffed.

"No.3 You will not offend anyone in my house. You will not cross your limits and peer in anyone's life. You making your place in their lives will entirely be on you. The minute I see anyone in the house getting disappointed by the slightest you'll have to face dire consequences."

Tejasswi rolled her eyes, regretting why she was even awake for this guy. Its not like he has been hired as a nanny to their household, rather married off. That was definitely a good joke.
