By the time Leorio had woken up, Kurapika had already left the room. He could hear the blond moving around in the kitchen.
Various sounds of pots clanging and cupboard doors slamming emanated from behind the door. Leorio sat up, rubbing his groggy eyes.
Memories of last night came flooding back. Him putting his arm around Kurapika... Hugging him. Leorio's cheeks began to redden. Not the time Leorio. Not the time.
He pushed back the covers and climbed out of the King sized bed, stretching as he stood up. Kurapika looked up from his phone after hearing the bedroom door open, having given up looking for something to eat. He smiled as a familiar face came into view.
"Hey Leorio. Have a nice sleep?" Leorio groaned in response and yawned loudly, not exactly willing to reveal that was the best sleep he had had in a while.
"Yeah... It was alright," he said, making his way over to Kurapika. He recalled the night before and glanced at Kurapika."You.... Don't remember anything happening last night, do you?" Leorio questioned, looking at Kurapika curiously.
"No? Am I supposed to?" Kurapika rose an eyebrow.
Leorio just looked away bashfully. So he wasn't awake. A part of him was almost sad...What the hell Leorio? Get yourself together. Kurapika is your friend. He's relying on you, so get it together! Leorio cleared his throat and replied.
"No it's..nothing. Nothing happened last night." Kurapika just gave him a confused look.
"Ooookay then." Kurapika said in slight confusion, hopping onto a bar stool.
"What was all that clanging in the kitchen earlier about anyway?" Leorio questioned, clearly trying to change the subject.
"Oh, uh, I was looking for some food. We don't have any by the way."
"Yeah...I had guessed that. It's fine, we can go out somewhere. My treat," Leorio grinned at his friend, happy he could do something for him.
"Oh yeah, I have something for you! Call it a gift." Leorio pushed himself off the kitchen island he had been resting on and started toward his suitcase.
"Oh no Leorio. You didn't have too, really. I- I didn't get anything for you." Kurapika blushed and ducked his head, embarrassed at both himself and Leorio.
"Too late! I already bought it," Leori sing-sang as he re-entered the room, cradling an outfit in his hands. A blue button up shirt for a top, and blanched high-waisted flannel trousers.
"I thought it would suit you! Try it on," he urged, holding the outfit out to Kurapika. Touched by the gesture Kurapika accepted the gift, heading to the bedroom to change. By the time Kurapika had finished changing Leorio was ready to leave. As Kurapika came into view Leorio's eyes widened.
"You look..Beaut- NICE. I mean nice." He cleared his throat, stuttering after his blunder.
"Thanks.." Kurapika nodded lightly, a blush dawning on the tips of his ears.
"To the coffee shop?" Leorio asked, holding his arm out playfully.
"To the coffee shop." Kurapika agreed, looping his arm around Leorio's as they opened the door and stepped out into the fresh morning air.
...
The pair stepped into the coffee shop, no longer arm-in-arm having long abandoned that when they realised they couldn't fit through the doorway of the apartment. Leorio smiled and led Kurapika to a small table in the corner where they could watch cars zoom by.
"Cute little place, isn't it?" Kurapika asked.
"Yeah...It sure is," Leorio replied, looking directly at Kurapika as he said this. Kurapika frowned at something in the distance. Leorio looked around, curious to see what was disrupting their dat- meet-up as friends. A girl across the coffee shop had been throwing Leorio flirtatious glances. Not that Leorio had noticed though. He had been too busy admiring Kurapika.
