It was just as rowdy as usual in the cafeteria, students everywhere in small and large groups chatting away.Teddy was sat at their usual table; him, Avery and Scarlet almost always sat there since freshman year. Joey came around sometimes too. But today, it was just Teddy and Avery.
As soon as she came through the door though, he lost the ability to pay mind to anything or anyone else. He had never been more grateful that the table had the perfect view of the door. The first thing he noticed were the glasses, those large frames that balanced delicately on the bridge of her nose and made her face look even smaller. He'd only ever seen her wear those in class and take them off right after. Her tight curls had been pulled into a low ponytail that framed her face and she wore a cute short floral print dress with a cropped denim jacket over it.
He hated how corny it sounded but he really could stare at her all day and imagine how great it would be to be the one to make her smile. Not the fake one she had on at the moment, but for real. He wondered what it would be like to actually talk to her, what did she like, what shows was she obsessed with? He wondered a lot of things about her.
He barely even noticed the two other girls that she was with. How could he?
"Oh my gosh!" Avery suddenly gasped, grabbing his arm, her eyes wide, darting between him and her. "That's her, isn't it?"
Of course Scarlet had told Avery all about Teddy's 'ginormous crush'; that's what she called it anyway. He just thought she was cute. It's not that big of a deal.
Maybe he'd stared too long at her in class on multiple occasions, and maybe she'd caught his lingering gaze at least twice now. Nobody had to know that. He was an artist so of course he could recognize beauty when he saw it.
