"Did you know that cows only sleep for three hours a day?" Calbee read from her Harvest Cheweee bar, taking a generous bite with her signature goofy smile.

Fallon looked up, disinterested, "That's... noteworthy," she commented, glancing back down at her stack of schoolwork that had to be completed for the next day.

Then she looked up at the non-existent stack on Calbee's lap, "Callie, how the chopsticks do you have less than me? This is not fair."

"I actually did my work yesterday instead of talking with Pebbles like someone did," she replied with an angelic smile.

With a groan, Fallon flipped open the first textbook and scanned through the text. The monotonous, tiny, never-ending text. It was going to be a long night, "For the record, I wasn't talking to him, I was sewing his broken arm."

Four hours later, she slumped back in her chair in defeat, hand aching from writing and back sore from leaning over the desk for long hours, "Callie?" she blindly whispered into the room, eyes squinted at the darkness that had consumed it without her noticing.

Fallon looked down at her clock lying on the desk, eyes widening as the time showed as 10:30pm. It was almost pitch black with the cool, refreshing wind entering from the slighty open window as she waited for Calbee to respond, "Callie?" she repeated.

Shuffling in the corner was followed by a sharp yelp, "Aah crap..." came the voice of Callie, "Just tripped over a shoe..."

Without giving her a response, Fallon rose from her seated postion and yawned, walking over to the switch to brighten the room up. Once flicked, the sheer brightness burned into her eyeballs as she rubbed them an looked at Calbee, "Are you going out?" she questioned curiously, noticing that she was clad in pretty white dress and pale flats.

"Yeah, Asher and I are going to meet up with a few friends, we'll be back soon, don't wait up and go to bed when you finish that," she nodded to the homework.

Fallon frowned, "Isn't it a bit late?"

"Relax, mother, just for one or two hours, we're practically night owls anyway," Calbee rolled her eyes and straightened her dress, "I'd invite you but you're already drowning in textbooks and schoolwork so I'll leave you to it."

Calbee's sad smile made Fallon dread the work even more, "Fine, see you later, Callie," she waved as her friend darted out the room, calling Asher's name.

Fallon sat back down and set aside the two pieces of works she'd completed, looking at the last three that remained with a deep sigh before opening her Biology folder and getting through the questions.

An hour later, her eyelids fluttered shut as she fell fast asleep, sprawled out over her workspace with arms splayed like a protective octopus.

Fallon awoke to the sounds of crashing in the corridor outside her door. Grouchy, she groaned and turned over from her position, until she felt herself tumbling to the ground, elbow painfully smashing into the edge of something dreadfully hard. With a mumble of surprise, she sat up, rubbing her eyes wearily as her eyes flashed to the desk she had just fallen from - had she dozed off halfway through Physics?

She didn't doubt that she had - Physics was a subject she had never grown fond of, Maths being the most hated. Just as she got up, lazily dragging herself to her bed, the bangs outside grew louder and two voices stood out prominently like needles in a haystack.
