Keyleth glanced at the closed door that lead to Percy's workshop, the sound of a hammer colliding with metal echoed throughout the Keep, it had been a week or so after the events at the Ziggurat...
"That's not Percy.. it's a demon, look. If it gets what it's wants, I don't think much of Percy will be left."
Keyleth remembered glancing up at Percy, a cloud of smoke had surround his face, there was a demon, it was latched onto Percy's soul, the idea of the demon didn't frighten her, but the idea of losing him, losing Percy was blood chilling. She shudder at the memory as she raised her hand up to the door and her hand curled into a fist as she knocks on the door, slowly the door open with a creak as she saw Percy hunched over as he slammed the hammer down against the metal, as she stepped through the threshold, she called out to him
"Percy!"
He didn't seem to hear or acknowledge her, so she opened her mouth to speak again, the clanking of the hammer interrupting her, unsure if he was ignoring, in a moment Keyleth had an idea, she slowly made her way closer to Percy, she kept her distance as she tapped on his shoulder, Percy must've been too focused on the metal by the way he jumped, Keyleth stifled a laugh as the gunslinger turned towards.
"Is everything alright, Keyleth?" Percy's voice was level, with a hint of concern, Keyleth shook her head
"Well, it's getting late and everyone is a bit tired, so they need you to stop hammering.."
"Oh! My apologies, I suppose I can finish it tomorrow." Percy glanced at the warped piece of metal, he shaping with the hammer, Keyleth turned her head a bit as she glanced at his workshop table with curious eyes.
"What are you making?"
"I'm attempting to make a new gun, after Scanlan toss the first one in a vat of acid."
Keyleth's blood ran cold.
"A new gun..?"
Percy merely nodded, not taking note of Keyleth's worried tone, after the Orthax incident, she didn't know how she felt about a new gun in Percy's hands, everyone as seen what Percy can do with a gun, how ruthless he can be, but that was Orthax not Percy, right? A hand on the shoulder took her from her thoughts as she saw Percy eye her with concern.
"Keyleth..?"
She chose to ignore the concern, she had to know, she had so many questions and worries about this new weapon
"Is it safe?"
She asked with a low tone, her hands clenched into fists as they laid beside her sides
"The gun? Yes it's perfectly safe, Keyleth"
The room became quiet, Keyleth didn't reply, nether did Percy. The two stood for a moment unsure of who would speak next, Keyleth was first to break the silence
"Are you sure? Like, really sure?"
Percy stiffened, a frown laying on his face
"Yes, I am, do you not trust me, Keyleth?'
"Of course! I trust you, but last you had a gun, we almost you.. I almost lost you."
"Keyleth.."
"I can't lose you, Percy. I won't."
She was crying now, she could feels the tears stream down her face, she let a small gasped as she felt Percy wipe a tear away, she looked up at him, who was looking at her with a sadness that filled his eyes
"You're not going to lose me, I swear it. Orthax is gone, and this gun.. it's merely a weapon, so I may fight with you, so I may protect you. Keyleth, you will never lose me. And if I ever lose my way, I know I can always find my way back to you."
"Percy..."
The gunslinger gave a soft smile, one of those smiles Keyleth has the pleasure of seeing. Keyleth slowly lean in close, she stop for a moment unsure if Percy was interested or even wanted her, but she got his answer when she felt his lips gently press against hers. She raised her hand as she grabbed his free hand, she felt how callous and rough they were, but she loved it, they pulled away after a moment, Percy was blushing a bit and Keyleth would assume she was blushing as well.
"I'm sorry if that was too forward."
Percy spoke breaking the silence, Keyleth began to giggle, Percy open his mouth as Keyleth leaned up and kiss him once more as they parted Keyleth spoke
"Sorry if that was too forward."
Percy frown in a playful manner, as he rolled his eyes, he glanced back at his workshop table and them back at Keyleth
"It's probably a bit late, we should get some rest before morning comes."
Keyleth agreed and the two walk out of the workshop in the hallway, they reached Percy's bedroom, but Percy insisted on taking Keyleth to her room, but Keyleth suggested just sleeping in Percy's room, together. After a few conversations, a small argument on who can have the bed, the two decide to share, Percy laid beside the wall, as Keyleth climbed in, she smiled and turned to face Percy, giving him one last kiss on this lips.
