14: let's grow old together

"... your what?"

Inside Hyousuke's office was none other than Megumi... with a little tagalong beside him.

This tagalong beamed, brighter than the burning sun, and waved a cheery hand.

"My—" Megumi's eyes drifted from his mother, to this tagalong, then back to Hyousuke. "— boyfriend."

"Hi, Hyou-san! Jii-chan told me to tell you that he misses having you guys over for dinner!" Itadori Yuuji's eyes sparkled. "Will you guys come later?"

Hyousuke: "..."

Megumi glanced at his boyfriend with a soft expression, before it twisted into horror the moment his mother spoke.

"Ah, Yuuji, of course. I'd be delighted to take your offer. Besides, have you not been looking after my dear son all this time?"

Megumi: "..." Have I always been someone who needed to be looked after?!

.

.

When he was a child, Fushiguro Megumi only wanted to find a friend that he could show his mother so that Hyousuke wouldn't worry about his social life.

Megumi didn't think that this friend would turn out to be his future boyfriend.

"Hey, Megumi! Aren't you getting up? We have a mission later and Kugisaki's been nagging at me to get you!"

"Who's nagging you?!"

"Eek— no one!"

But sometimes, he felt like he was still looking after that gullible childhood friend he had always known, not his boyfriend.

.

.

"Master." Nao called out as soon as he entered Hyousuke's office. The man behind the desk paused from reading the papers he held and raised his gaze to glance at Nao in the eyes.

"Is there something urgent you needed, Nao?"

A drop of sweat slid down the poor secretary's cheek the moment the pressure his master gave off intensified by more than twofold. "... you told me to remind you  of your wedding anniversary a week before the exact date."

"... wedding... anniversary..." The papers in his hand slid down, slipping off the edge of the desk and scattering all over the floor. "I seem... to have no plans written down for it."

I knew it. Ever since his master distanced himself from the Jujutsu World, Hyousuke buried himself with work. If it weren't for Fushiguro Toji's appearance, perhaps Nao's master would grow old all alone and spend the rest of his life working without treating himself to something he deserved.

"I can get someone to buy a private cruise for the both of you, master."

"No," said Hyousuke after a moment of deep silence. "There is no need for something fancy." A smile curved on his lips, the most gentle look in his eyes only reserved for his husband appeared.

"Instead, prepare all this for me, Nao."

.

.

There was a time Fushiguro Toji thought that he would never recover after losing Hyousuke many years ago.

Perhaps he would be somewhere even worse than where he had been some years ago. Although it sounded a little cheesy and cringey, there was nothing more he wanted than to spend the rest of his life with his husband.
