A she-cat was walking out of the nursery, her jaws full of herbs. She had been looking after one of the queens, who had gotten a bad cough. The feline found it was from lack of water, and she scolded the queen for being so forgetful, too busy with her kit for the lack of things.

She was stopped on her way to her den. She looked up to see her leader and deputy. "What is it you need?" she asked.

"Just wondering how the queens were," her leader meowed. "Is Mossgoose okay? I heard her coughing."

"Lack of water," the she-cat replied. "She will be fine."

"Good," he said, walking away.

She paused, then she called back out. "Goldenstar?"

"Yes?"

"Tomorrow is the assessment for the apprentices," she rasped. "Are you going to watch?" He paused, thoughtful. She awaited, holding her breath for a response.

"It would be uncanny for me not to watch," he meows finally. "I assess them, and i determine who leaves and who stays. If Cedarpaw and Sunpaw show their worth, they can stay." He walks away without awaiting a reply.

The she-cat stands there, unable to move. She sighs. Her Clan wasn't what it seemed anymore.
