Hey y'all! I'm finally back! Oh my gosh, this took forever! Sorry about that. I actualy really wanted to update kinda regularly, but then life happened and that didn't work out, so here we are, four months or something later. Oops... Anyways, here's part one of three of this story!
Enjoy!
The loud ringing of his alarm made his sleep come to a very abrupt and harsh end. Oh how he hated that thing. Tired, his eyes still closed, he blindly tried to hit the alarm clock, to stop the loud, horrible, piercing noise, that made his ears hurt. He was just so incredibly tired.
He hadn't gotten more than four hours of sleep at night for the last two weeks. This night, it had only been lousy two hours. There seemed to have been even more crime in Queens than normally, and the criminals just didn't seem to care, that even Spiderman had to sleep every once in a while. That's also why coffee had been the only thing keeping him alive during the last few weeks, even though the taste always almost made him puke because the taste was too strong for his overly sensitive taste buds. Without coffee, he would never survive his long, exhausting days.
Peter slowly forced his eyes open. They immediately started to tear up, as even the dim light shining through the closed curtains blinded him painfully. The more tired he was, the more sensitive his eyes became, that was something he unfortunately had to find out during the last few weeks. It would have been ok, if he were able to just walk around in in his Spiderman mask, which had special lenses that blocked out the exact amount of light he needed, to be able to walk around without his eyes hurting. But he couldn't do that, of course. Secret identity and all that... He couldn't even wear sunglasses, at least not at school. He didn't quite know, why this rule existed, but sunglasses of any kind were forbidden there, which really sucked for him.
Of course, he could always ask May if he could stay home for the day, she would most likely let him. But that would also mean, that she would forbid him to continue going on his daily patrols as Spiderman, and he couldn't risk that. He had no other choice than just force himself through another horrible day full of hurting eyes and lots of caffeine.
He tiredly swung his legs out of the bed, stood up and dragged himself to the bathroom. He had to keep the bright light turned off, that would have definitely been too much for his sensitive eyes. As he entered the kitchen a few minutes later, he tried his best to look better than he was feeling, while he was happily greeted by a May, who seemed to be in a good mood. "Good morning! Did you sleep well?" Peter's only answer was a hearty yawn.
She looked at him with narrowed eyes, her hands on her hips. "Peter, you've been looking really tired the last few days! Your bags under your eyes are big enough to go shopping with them! Were you out all night, doing the Spiderman thingy again?" she asked, a mix of concern and accusation in her voice. "No, of course not, May! I... just haven't been sleeping well lately. Probably because of puberty and stuff..." he quickly tried to talk his way out of it. May didn't seem to be completely convinced by his excuse, but luckily stopped asking.
He hastily ate his big bowl of cereal and grabbed his backpack in a hurry, because he had set his alarm for half an hour later than he normally did, to get at least a bit mor sleep. That unfortunately also meant, that he would have to run in order to catch his bus.
He tiredly let his head rest against one of the handrails and closed his painful eyes to protect them from the lights in the bus. There weren't any free seats, of course. Stupid Parker luck.
As they arrived at the school some time later, Peter just let himself be pushed towards the school by the crowd of students. "Wait up, Peter!" he stopped and turned around as he heard the voice of his best friend Ned. He had apparently completely missed him waiting for Peter at their usual spot and had just walked past him without even noticing he was there.
