Hello again y'all! Here's part two of "blind", just as promised! I hope you'll like it!
Mr Stark securely lead him through the long, deserted halls of the school. "I guess Happy will still take a while, especially with the traffic today. I'm sorry, Kid" "I-it's alright, Mr Stark. I'm glad you even came. Thank you, and I'm sorry, that I'm keeping you from your work"
His mentor abruptly stopped, making Peter stumble a bit. He was immediately grabbed and steadies by Tony, so that he didn't fall. "Of course I came, Peter! What did you think? I have already told you, that I will always be there for you, if you need any kind of help. And I'm damn sure, that suddenly loosing your eyesight counts as needing help! So that's why we are going to go to the Starbuck right around the corner and I will get you something to drink, while we wait for Happy. And if I look at the dark bags under your eyes, I'm guessing it should probably be something with lots of caffeine." "Thank you" "Everything for you, Peter. Ok, let's go. Careful, curb"
Tony led him across the street without a problem and guided him through the door of the café. Shortly after, he felt a seat touching the back of his knees, on which he was carefully pressed by Tony. "Ok, wait here for a second, Underoos. I'll get us something to drink. Any special wishes?" Peter shook his head.
He could hear steps walking away from him. He was alone. Not really alone, he could still hear the people around him in the café drinking their coffee and talking. He restlessly shuffled around in his chair. It was frightening to be in a room full of people, without any clue on what was going on. Someone could attack him, and he wouldn't even realize until it was too late! He took a deep breath to calm himself down. He couldn't start panicking again now! He was safe here, this was a completely normal Starbucks with completely normal people, nothing dangerous. The clicks he could hear was only an employee operating the coffee machine, not a villain undoing the safety of his gun. Everything was fine, he was safe. He tensely sat there, his hands tightly gripping the edge of the table, and tried not to pay too much attention to the noises around him, that his mind saw as potential dangers.
He flinched, as he heard someone walking straight towards him. He only calmed down, as he heard the shooting voice of his mentor. "It's ok, Peter. It's only me" something was placed on the table in front of him. Peter slowly extended his hands and felt the table in front of him, almost knocking over the cup, that's apparently been placed there. He slowly wrapped his hands around the warm beverage and took a careful sip.
He didn't know what exactly was in the cup, but the warm, sweet drink tasted really good, even with the coffee in it. "Ok Pete. Let's try to find out what we're dealing with here." Peter put his cup back onto the table, not daring to actually let go of it, because he would probably knock it over.
"Alright, did you maybe get a hit to your head lately?" He thought about it and slowly shook his head. "Ok, I didn't think so either, I guess the effect would have been immediately, not just randomly some time later. Did you notice anything out of the ordinary?" "Well, my eyes kept hurting and being teary for the last few days, but that was only because I didn't get a lot of sleep. That often makes my eyes more sensitive, almost like a sensory overload, but only for the eyes" Even though he couldn't see it, he imagined Tony frowning thoughtfully. "We still have to go to the tower, of course, to check it out, but I think I might know what happened. Your lack of sleep, together with your heightened eyesight probably led to an overload of the nerves in your eyes, leading to your eyes basically shutting down." "And... what does that mean? Will it go away?" Peter asked.
On the one hand, he really wanted to know the answer, this was about his future, it was important! But on the other hand, he was scared. Scared, that it would be an answer that would change his life forever. He had no idea how to go on if he lost his eyesight forever. What would happen to him, to Spiderman?
