Wednesday (yes! I found it!), XXXX
We just landed in the best hamlet ever! And I mean it! I can hear you snickering as I write this. But, Unni thinks so too, you know, so I am not gushing. And no, I am not using him for self-validation. But honestly, this place is so wonderful. For a while, I forgot that this is a place we actually captured. The locals are not particularly pleased with our leaders, but they tell us they know how it is to fight for a cause you do not give a shit about. It warms my heart so, so much, to see people stand by one another, like boundaries and borders never existed in the world. We stay in this rundown place with holes in the roof, but the company makes it feel like home.
You probably think I am exaggerating, but I cannot emphasize enough on how nice these villagers are. And there are dance halls here. I have wanted to visit one for so long, I can't even remember the last time I took someone out. Obviously, they are no longer at their former glory, what with the war and the fights and all, but there is music and there are drinks and there are pretty men and women twirling around. I think I will be visiting one this evening. Perhaps I can convince the Unni and the others to come with me. Maybe, one of the locals would be willing to match me step-for-step. It does not really matter what you say, I truly am a very good dancer. You know what, I am going to put this on the list. It is the weirdest thing I have ever possessed, but it has sort of grown on me, you know what I mean?
Unni came in just now, and I sweet talked him into coming with me. I told you, I have a tongue forged from silver purged seven times.
Sincerely yours,
The Soldier.
