Here is the thing, okay? I thought it was some sort of a belated teenage tantrum phase, but now Unni is pissing me off. He always finds somewhere else to be when I turn up at our shared quarters, eats with a bunch of green Privates instead of with us, and actually comes to meals after I leave. You know what? I am going to speak to him. It has been long enough that I have buried my head in the sand, and now, as the NCO, I must look out for mine own.
But more than that, he is my friend, and it is only meet that I look out for him and his welfare, although I suspect this has something to do with me. I mean, he talks to others just fine. Just yesterday, he poured a palmful of gooey mud into Shimun's shoes (yes, gross, I know, but these people love a joke like that) and subsequently got yelled at, and strutted about the rest of the day preening and looking inordinately pleased for someone who just made their colleague's life ten times harder. And when someone came up to him to grumble about he, he just laughed away. So, back to my point, there is probably something wrong with me. He has been like that ever since 'the night' (yes, we are calling it that). I wonder what happened? Is he upset that we brought him back. But he was so drunk, he might have ended up doing something very stupid. You know it was well past the time good decisions are made, and we just wanted him to be okay. And besides, if he is mad because of that, why blame only me. The others have been party to it too.
Sincerely yours,
A Very Pissed- off Soldier.
