alexithymia- the inability to express your feelings.

-

hailey stood in the bullpen kitchen, making her own cup of coffee before voight arrived. she heard her phone vibrate to see a message from spencer.

corey's flying in this weekend. lunch with you and whoever you're dating?

she got ready to respond, before she thought for a moment. how'd he know?

how'd you know?

he quickly responded,

you think i didn't see that big ol ring on your finger?

she rolled her eyes, but chuckled a little.

yeah sure.

she shut off her phone, and turned as jay walked into the kitchen.

"detective upton." he said jokingly, hailey not being able to hold back a smile.

"halstead." she returned the gesture as she poured her coffee.

a comfortable silence fell between the two, before jay asked her a question.

"can we talk about what happened last night?"

she laughed, trying to brush off his comment as subtly as she could. "there's nothing to talk about! i had to do something." she responded, a hint of annoyance on her tone.

"did it have to do with kim?" he asked.

"no, it didn't." she lied, but for the right reason. it wasn't really her place to say, and kim trusted her enough to tell her. "and even if it did, it's not really any of your business." she said casually, slowing walking out the room. she still smiled faintly, letting him know it wasn't a big deal.

jay followed out behind her, where she saw hailey go up to kim. they had a auick conversation, but jay heard nothing, just saw them exchange whispers.

hailey sat down in her seat, after she finished talking to kim. with almost flawless timing, voight and trudy walked in.

"no cases so far, so trudy's got some paperwork for you all." he announced.

of course, the group hated paperwork, but with no other option, they complied.

"voight?" kim spoke up. he turned to look at her, before he entered her office. "can i talk to you?" he invited her into his office.

-

jay looked at the clock after a few hours. it had seemed like they'd been filling out paperwork for forever.

he turned to hailey, who also looked bored out of her mind. "hey, what do we have left for wedding planning?" he whispered

"nothing much had changed. invitations have finally been sent out, and me and kim are planning to go dress shopping.." she paused to check what time it was, "in a bit actually."

he nodded, "are we busy this weekend?" he asked. "maybe we can knock out some other things."

"my brothers invited us to lunch." she informed him, the plans completely slipping her mind. "but other than that, yeah we're free."

"sounds fun." he agreed. "you chose your maid of honor yet?"

"yeah, it's gonna be vanessa. i wish i could have multiple." she stated.

"who says you can't?" jay asked.

she laughed at his comment, before asking,7"i'm assuming will's gonna be your best man?"

"of course." jay responded. "never doubted it."

hailey nodded, seeing kim get up from her desk.

"you ready?" she asked.

she nodded, and packed up her stuff. just before she left, she gave jay a kiss goodbye, and the two were off.

-

hailey sat in the drivers seat, with kim in the passenger, and vanessa, stella and in the back talking here and there about different things.

hailey managed to bring up the maid of honor situation, and how she wishes all of the girls could be her maid of honor. in the end, she did end up going with vanessa, but she mentioned how none of it matters at the end of the day, and they all mean a lot to her.

without a doubt, kim said yes, allowing hailey to check one more thing off her list.

"i told adam." kim announced quietly to hailey, while the 3 in the back were having their own conversation

"how'd he take it?" hailey whispered.

"good, he says he here for me no matter what. so that's good." she replied casually.

"kim that's great." hailey said, happy things had gone how kim had anticipated. "see i told you."

the two laughed.

the group eventually arrived at the wedding dress shop, where they were greeted at the front desk.

"hi ladies, my names christi. who's our bride this afternoon?"

hailey shyly introduced herself to christi, and they got ready to look around the store.

hailey had an open mind walking intro the dress shop. she was open to anything, and her friends were there to support her.

-

after what felt like an eternity, hailey believed they had searched the entire store. everyone she found was either too expensive, didn't compliment her,  or just didn't feel right.

hailey was clearly losing faith, as she had taken off her previous dress. she got ready to put in back up on the hanger, before she heard aknock on her door.

"it's me." vanessa said, outside the door.

hailey unlocked the door, letting her inside. vanessa was holding a garment bag, which made hailey furrow her brows.

"okay, before you get mad, i know you said you were done, but i think you'll like this one." she held out the bag, and hailey sighed.

"vanessa-" hailey tried to argue.

"just try it on, please?" she begged. "if you don't like it, we'll go."

hailey sighed, but took the dress from vanessa. "last one." she warned.

-

hailey looked at herself in the mirror after trying on the dress, and was in awe. the sleeves fell right off her shoulders, and hide a nice material, that complimented her.

she admired herself for a minute, before walking out to show the group.

she picked up the sides of the dress, and walked along the runway, to show her friends.

all the girls gasped in union, as hailey showed off the dress vanessa had picked out.

"hailey.." stella started, "that is gorgeous."

"if you don't buy that, i will." kim joked.

hailey laughed, as she looked at herself once more. "ugh, you guys are gonna make me cry!" she said, tearing up at her friends comments.

"hailey, you look amazing." vanessa complimented.

she nodded, giving up on trying to fight the tears. "..yeah..yeah. this is the one." she smiled

the girls cheered and clapped for her, as they hugged her on the runway. as hailey was letting go of the girls, vanessa spoke.

"see, you should listen to me more often." she said.

hailey shoved her head away, but laughed with her friends.
