atelophobia- the fear of imperfection/never being good enough.

-

december 21st

the ride to the restaurant was relatively quiet. although he wouldn't admit it, jay was nervous out of his mind.

hailey looked over at him from the passenger seat, stifling back a laugh.

he heard her failed attempt, and looked over to her. "what?" he asked, shyly.

"you don't have to be so nervous." she replied, even though thsi had been the umpteenth time she'd told him. "they're gonna love you."

he sighed, "yeah, but what if they don't?" he asked, turning into the parking lot of the restaurant. he parked the car, and looked over at hailey as he shut the car off. "i'm just nervous it won't go well."

she cupped his chin with her hand, and smiled at him. "you have nothing to worry about. they're gonna love you, they're gonna come to our wedding, and we're gonna have a great time. okay?"

he squeezed her arm, which she took as a non-verbal agreement, and the couple got out of the car.

they walked into the restaurant, where she saw both her brothers sitting at one of the tables across the front entrance.

as they got closer, the resemblance between the 3 became crystal clear. they all had the same brown-blondish hair, and hints of blue in their eyes, although, hailey was the only one with pure blue eyes. her brothers had more gray/brown eyes.

you could see the two men's eyes light up as they saw their little sister, rushing over to give her a hug. she smiled widely, as she embraced the two.

"hey guys." she greeted sweetly, speaking into the two's shoulders. as they let go, one of her brothers ruffled her hair. jay stood closely behind hailey, observing the sweet interaction.

"this is corey, my oldest brother.." she said, gesturing towards him. the two shook hands, "and you've already met spencer."

"under odd circumstances." spencer added, shaking jay's hand.

"corey, spence, this is jay, my fiancé."

spencer smiled at the guy, while corey was utterly shocked. spencer had already briefly seen jay, and had obviously noticed the pretty ring on her finger.

as hailey had stated numerous times, she wasn't the best at keeping tabs with her family, so corey's shock was understandable.

"nice to meet you." corey added, after getting over his state of shock.

"let's sit down?" hailey proposed.

"how long have you guys known each other?" spencer asked, after the 4 had ordered their meals.

"about 5 years now?" jay answered, looking at hailey to confirm his answer. "we started dating about 2 years now, and i proposed a few months back."

the two nodded, before hailey spoke.

"which reminds me.." hailey started, reaching into her purse. she pulled out two envelopes, sliding them across the table for her brothers.

curiously, they opened the envelopes, to find a sheet of paper inside, that read,

𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆
