Zuko and Sokka were lying in their bed in a way that if anyone were to poke their head around the door, the situation looked completely platonic. They were both facing the ceiling, minds racing, still trying to proses what had happened at breakfast how happy they were. Underneath the covers their fingers were intertwined and and their feet were frequently brushing against each other.
They fell asleep like that.

In the morning there was a uncomfortable feeling around the breakfast table. Zuko and Sokka were a couple, not officially yet but they were very nearly there.
Toph, of course knew about this, as she could see and hear almost everything that went on in their room and the house.
Aang was aware that Zuko was gay, and he knew that Zuko liked Sokka but you didn't have to know this all to be able to feel the tension in the dining room. He had a suspicion that something had happened between Zuko and Sokka.
Katara had a slight suspicion that Sokka was gay - he was her brother after all and if anyone would figure out that Zuko and Sokka were a thing it would be her. She was good at finding out things, especially if people wanted to keep them secret from her.
Suki was completely clueless as to what was going on with Sokka and Zuko even though, she - like everyone else could tell that you could cut the tension in the room with a knife. It annoyed her greatly that there was clearly something going on that everyone else knew but no-one had bothered to tell her.
Suki was the first to leave the table, she couldn't bare sitting there another minute as everyone else gave each other small discrete glances trying to ask questions and tell people things without her (or Katara although she didn't know that) knowing.
Shortly after Suki left Zuko and Sokka glanced at each other and then proceeded to excuse themselves from the table and head to their shared bedroom.
Once they left it was only Katara, Aang and Toph. Katara and Aang seemed to forget about Tophs presence so they started up a flirty conversation. After a few minutes Toph stood up as she didn't want to feel this uncomfortable anymore and left abruptly muttering "straights" under her breath.
Aang muttered "hey I'm not-" before he could finish Toph had left and Katara was giving him a questioning glance.
"Did she mutter 'straights' under her breath as she left the room Aang?"Katara questioned, curious about what Toph could be hiding from her. She thought she knew Toph better than anyone else in the gaang.
Aang panicked not wanting to out his friend "I umm- I don't know it was..kind of unclear..."
Katara rolled her eyes "then you said I'm not? What's that supposed to mean? Your not what?"
Aang smiled his usual goofy smile but with slightly furrowed eyebrows and sighed "You don't know do you? I kind of assumed everyone did..."
Katara continued to look clueless. "Should I?"
"I'm pan - I was saying I wasn't straight to Toph as she left, although she already knows" Aang laughed at Kataras gobsmacked face.
"How do you expect everyone to know these things if you don't tell me?" Katara smiled, this information hadn't at all changed how she felt about Aang as a friend...or more.
"I'm sorry I just thought you would you know ... guess?" The two smiled and continued their conversation.
The awkward silence had carried itself through to Zuko and Sokkas bedroom, Zuko was sitting on the bed scrolling through his phone and Sokka was sitting at the desk doodling on a piece of scrap paper.
"Zuko, last night... I um-"
Zuko paniked at Sokkas words instantly assuming he did something wrong, maybe he  misunderstood Sokkas conversation with Toph, maybe he didn't like him back and it was all one big mistake.
"Zuko - you ok? You zoned out for a second there."
"Yea um..." Zuko looked up at Sokka with fear in his eyes. "What were you saying to me?"
"Um, I wanted to say I enjoyed last night, you know...when we kissed. Oh and the walk home, it was nice to get to know you more."
Zuko smiled at Sokkas loving words but he didn't know how to respond to it. He wasn't used to it...he didn't exactly get much practice, reacting to affection as a kid, growing up with an absent mother and a homophobic sister and father. "I-I um Yea it-i-it was fun..."
"Your too cute when your awkward." Sokka chuckled as he got up and lay on the bed, grabbing Zukos hand in the process so that they were now sittlig with Sokka lying down on their shared bed, admiring his almost-boyfriend and Zuko, holding Sokkas hand sitting on the bed beside Sokka with one question that he was too scared to ask repeating itself in his head. He so desperately wanted to ask Sokka to be he's boyfriend. He couldn't pluck up the courage to, Instead he said, "Do you want to um— you know like go and do something...."
"Like a... date?" Sokka questioned slightly confused.
"Um... Yea! Sure, I'll meet you outside of my uncles tea shop - the Jasmine Dragon at 3..... if that suits?" Said Zuko who was slightly taken aback by his sudden confidence boost.
"Yes! - it suits, See you there." Sokka smiled, he was happy that Zuko was the one asking him out on the date because he wasn't completely sure that he could have built up the courage to.
Soon Sokka left the room to go for a walk, he usually did that when there was a lot going on. It would help him organise his thoughts and clear his head.
