Ansel's POV

...........................................................................

I can't stop yelling at him. Every time he takes a breath is a quick reminder that he is still alive and fine. I feel a pop in shailene's neck and look down, only to see her eyes roll back into their sockets and a breath seep out. "Shai?", I ask scared. "Shai can you hear me? Shai wake up you need to wake up now shai.", I cry shaking here lifeless body. "SHAI YOU NEED TO WAKE UP NOW... SHAILENE PLEASE. PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU.", I yell. "SHAILENE PLEASE.... please.... please...don't do this to me.... please....shai.", I cry. Her body begins to feel cold, and the whole crowd goes dead silent. The whole city is silent. The whole world has no noise anymore. Just a constant sound of nothing. Absolutely nothing. A hand touches me. I turn to see it belonged to a paramedic. He is speaking to me, but nothing comes out. I can't hear him. He pulls me away from her and sits me down on the sidewalk. I don't fight him. I just watch as they pull her lifeless body onto the gurney, and roll her into the truck. The paramedic picked me up and took me inside as well. I couldn't bare to look at her, but I did anyways. Paramedics are frantic. Attempting to resuscitate her, as if possible. They are yelling at each other, now shocking her. Nothing. They go again, still nothing. She is covered in blood head to toe, gashes on her side, with machines strapped all over her, yet to me all I see is the most beautiful girl in the world, dying, or at least from what I can tell ... dead.

They finally arrive at the hospital. That's when my hearing came back. I can hear their frustration and anger. "Hey kid..", a paramedic says resting his hand on my shoulder. "Were gonna keep her in the emergency room for extreme reconstruction. Her bones are all displaced, and we need to operate quickly. You can wait for her over there.", he says pointing at the front desk of the main hospital. I nod, and watch as the rest of the paramedics push her fast into the emergency room entrance.
I wait there for what feels like an eternity. So far I've counted three accounts of severed limbs, 5 snake bite victims, and 4 elderly being rushed into the emergency room. A hand touches my shoulder, the paramedic. "Surgery went well sir, I assume you are family?",I nod quickly. "Well you may visit her now.",he says pointing down the hall. "Room C33, your gonna need to take that elevator.", He says softly. "Thank you.", I say and quickly race to the elevator. I run and push the button for level C wasting to no time for anyone else. As soon as the doors open wide enough, I squeeze through and dash through the hall. Room C5, room C15, room C25. I run faster and faster. Until ... There. There it is. Room C33. I step slowly to the door, and see her resting in her bed. She is awake... barely. I turn the knob slowly, and her head turns fast towards my direction. "Hey you!", she says quietly. Her voice sounds scratchy and in pain. "Hey shai. How do you feel?", I say quietly. She still looks beautiful. No makeup. No dress. Just her natural self. "I'm fine.", she says calmly, until she begins to cough. The cough grew louder and louder. Deeper and deeper, until blood started to come out. little specks of bright red stain her bed sheets in a matter of seconds. I race towards the door and yell "Doctor! We need a doctor now!", I say looking back at her and out in the hallway. 3 doctors and a nurse race inside, pushing me out of the doorway. One of the doctors pushes me aside and says, "I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room.", He says ushering me out of the room. I struggle and push him out of my way, but it's no use. I'm now locked outside of her room, only able to watch her bleed out even more. I can still hear her heart monitor and the doctors clearly. They bring out a defibrillator. " One two three... clear.", The nurse yells. Nothing. She is still knocked out. they try again, "One two three ... clear." Still nothing. This goes on and on and on. Nothing. It is when they do it for the 6th time that I hear her heart monitor race rapidly, and then... nothing. Just a constant beep. They all stare down at the floor covered in her blood. "Time of death .. 9:45 pm."My own heart feels as though it has stopped and sank to the earths core effortlessly. My knees grow week and I collapse to the ground crying and screaming. A doctor steps out of the room, and kneels down beside me. "I'm so sorry for your loss sir. She has passed away.", He says staring at me. I don't respond at all. I just stare blankly at the end of the hallway. I quickly get up and dash to the elevator. I hear him chase behind me, but another voice says "Let him get some air John. He needs it." I close the doors and press the highest floor... the roof.
